Earlier this summer, we spoke with longtime Super Stock division standout Paul Maltese (above, by Pamela Guppy). The former Sunset Speedway champion chatted about the evolution of the Thunder Car/Super Stock division, the competition in the support class, the Sauble vs Sunset ‘Home and Home’ series, piloting a home-built chassis and much more. Click here for the video, and be sure to join us at the Canadian Motorsports Expo this weekend, when Paul unveils his brand new Ltd. Late Model that he will pilot with hopes of earning the Sunset Speedwat Rookie of the Year title in 2014.
As the Canadian Motorsports Expo draws near, the buzz continues to build around the 3rd annual Inside Track Young Guns panel, set to take to the stage at 10:30 am on February 9th. Already, 4 of the top young drivers in the province have been announced as attendees, including Open Wheel Modified star Shane Stickel, Delaware Speedway hot-shoe Trevor Collver, 2013 TQ Can-Am Midget champion Mack Deman and 2012 Flamboro Speedway Late Model Rookie of the Year Dale Shaw.
Now, Inside Track is happy to announce that these 4 will be joined on the prestigious panel by one of the top Mini Stock pilots in the province, Billy Schwartzenburg (above, by Thompson Photography).
The 2013 season saw Billy fashion an ‘outlaw’ schedule, competing at 7 speedways province-wide, accumulating a head-turning 11 victories against some of the division’s top talent. There’s still one spot on the panel left to be announced, stay tuned to the Friday edition of our Short Track Notebook to find out who will take the final seat at the table.
