OHSWEKEN, ON – Another evening of fun and entertainment is on tap this Friday at Ohsweken Speedway, with the Rochester Knighthawks Lacrosse Club presenting Sunshine Foundation and Autograph Night on July 6. The Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, Lighthouse Tattoos Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Pierced Parts Bombers will all be part of Friday Night Thunder this week, along with the return of the Modified Lite Stars International Championship Tour.
CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS: Ohsweken’s own Glenn Styres claimed his second win of the season last Friday, as the Sprint Car division got back to regular season action. Styres is the current Corr/Pak points leader, and holds a 25 point cushion over Fenwick driver Tom Huppunen. Fenwick’s Chris Steele, Tecumseh, Michigan driver Dain Naida, and Jamie Collard of Burford currently hold top 5 positions.
MODIFIED LITE STARS INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR Middleport, New York driver Derek Wagner won the Mod-Lite feature last Friday night, and will look for two in a row this week. Beamsville’s Paul Klager, Port Colborne driver Shawn Sliter, Jeff May of Mount Hope, Bolton’s Jason Corless, and St. Catharines driver Korey Howe are among the other drivers expected this Friday night. This week’s Mod-Lite event will be the third of six scheduled events for the tour at Ohsweken in 2012.
LIGHTHOUSE TATTOOS THUNDER STOCKS: Cambridge driver Wyatt Van Wart leads the Thunder Stock standings heading into this Friday’s event, but he has seen his lead shrink over the past two weeks. Brad Herron of Waterford won for a second consecutive week last Friday, and is now just three points behind Van Wart in the standings. Cory Turner of Caistor Centre moved to third in the standings with a runner-up finish last Friday, and is just 11 points behind Van Wart, while Port Robinson driver Devin Habiuk, and Caledonia’s Mike Thorne round out the top five.
HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS: Mike Evers enjoyed plenty of early-season success in the Mini Stock division, with two feature wins already, but he hit a snag when he was caught up in a crash last Friday. The veteran driver from Caledonia still holds a comfortable lead over Hamilton’s Brittani Myers, who is second in the standings, followed by the team of Burlington drivers Mark Czuba and Mike Taylor, Steve Hess of Ohsweken, and Burlington’s Jeremy Hughes.
PIERCED PARTS BOMBERS: Caledonia’s Jesse McDonald won for the first time this season last Friday, and now sits atop the Pierced Parts Bombers standings as a result. Max Chechalk of Hamilton is now in second place, followed by Carlisle driver Davey Boughton is third, Dusty DeBoer of Hagersville, and Hamilton’s Jeremy May.
