The Raceline Radio Network, now working season 31 as Canada’s National Radio Motorsport Authority is tremendously excited to announce a return to the Edmonton Alberta market!
The Raceline Radio Network is hooking up with the launch of Edmonton Sports Talk, a brand new on-line internet entity to carry on an extremely strong sports talk tradition in the Edmonton market after CFRN 1260 ceased operation.
Edmonton Sports Talk will feature several show hosts Edmonton sports enthusiasts have been entertained by and have grown to trust, so the platform might be new, but the sound is familiar and comfortable.
Starting Tuesday September 12th, Edmonton Sports Talk will feature two weekly airings of The Raceline Radio Network: Tuesday nights at 8 with a replay Saturday mornings at 9 Mountain Time.
Erik will also appear on other EST shows to discuss motorsports and other automotive issues and stories.
“Edmonton has a loyal and dedicated auto racing fan base and a large reason is the Raceline Radio Network having a long and proud history airing in the city of Edmonton. With the launch of our new venture, Edmonton Sports Talk, following the closure of CFRN-AM 1260, we felt it was important to make sure Raceline Radio continued to air in the Edmonton market,” offered Edmonton Sports Talk Chief Operating Officer Matthew Iwanyk. “Having worked closely for many years with Erik while I was at 1260, it was a no brainer to have Raceline Radio become a ‘Friend of EST’. There is not a single bigger or better voice on auto racing in all of Canada and we are beyond honoured to be the Edmonton home of The Raceline Radio Network,” Iwanyk added.
“Matthew is absolutely right! The racing tradition in the Edmonton market is extremely deep. I worked several Edmonton IndyCar races, I know about RAD Torque Raceway and Edmonton International Raceway in nearby Wetaskiwin and their NASCAR sanction. There’s also long-standing drag racing heritage in what we call ‘Big Sky Country’. Alberta boasts some of the best race fans in the country and Edmonton is a huge part of that,” commented Raceline Radio Network Anchor/Producer Erik Tomas. “After 1260 shut off, Matt and the crew at Edmonton Sports Talk are making sure The Raceline Radio Network stays connected to those fans. EST is also our very first fully digital on-line affiliate and we’re very excited to hook onto that trend,” Tomas continued.
With long-term support from national broadcast partners Subaru Canada and General Tire Canada, plus seasonal partners Fast Eddie Speedwear, The Raceline Radio Network also comprises 11 terrestrial radio stations across Canada, now boasting a total of 17 airings of the program weekly, year-round.
Raceline Radio is broadcast from the studios of co-flagship affiliate Global News Radio 900 CHML Hamilton Ontario, and linked to Sportsnet 590 The FAN Toronto Ontario, is distributed and marketed by Rogers Communications.
