September 19, 2014 – Caistor Centre, Ontario – Jamie Turner and sons Cory and Ryan were all on the track at Ohsweken Speedway to finish their racing seasons during the 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 – CSCN TEST & TUNE
Jamie, Cory, and Ryan all turned some laps in the Test & Tune at Ohsweken on Thursday. It was Ryan’s first good chance to get his feet wet in a Sprint Car, as his debut on September 5 was rained out after hot laps.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 – NIGHT BEFORE THE NATIONALS
Jamie and Cory were part of a 56 car field signed in for the Night Before the Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday. Heat race starting positions were determined by a draw, which didn’t go the way of Team Turner as Cory started seventh, and Jamie started 10th. Neither were able to get into top five transfer spots, and there was no B-Main, so their night was done.

“I got trapped behind some slower cars,” said Cory. “Once I cleared them, I had a really fast car and missed transferring by a spot, finishing sixth.  I was pretty happy with the car. We just ran out of time.”

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 – CANADIAN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS
Group time trials determined heat race starting positions for Saturday night’s Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken, with a total of 68 cars signed in. Cory’s fastest lap in the session was 14.610 seconds – good enough for sixth quickest in the group, and 32nd quickest overall. Jamie was eighth quick in the session with a lap of 14.735 seconds, 37th quickest overall.

“My Dad and I drew the same heat race, and it had some pretty stiff competition,” said Cory. “We were better than half of the field, which I felt was a good result considering we were in the last session when the track was starting to slick out in spots. I was extremely happy with our lap, as the guys gave me a really good car, and we just missed the inversion number, being a six, from starting on the pole of the heat race.”

Neither Jamie or Cory were able to advance through their heat race, and went to the B-Main, where Cory started tenth and finished fifth, and Jamie started 14th and finished eighth and missed transferring to the Little Feature by just one spot. Cory’s finish was good enough for him to advance to the Little Feature, where he finished ninth, three spots behind the last transfer.

“I misjudged the track and tightened (the car) up far too much,” said Cory. “For my first Nationals, I was extremely happy with how we timed, raced in our B-Main, and only missed the big show by a few spots. We are looking forward to next year’s edition already!”

WHAT’S NEXT?
Jamie, Cory, and Ryan are finished their 2014 season, but they are not resting too much.

“Overall, we had a great season with all three cars,” said Cory. “We are already working towards next year – getting things ready for 2015 and what it may bring!”
