OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 30, 2019) – Ohsweken Speedway held another fantastic edition of Friday Night Excitement as Pinty’s Delicious Foods presented Friday Night Excitement featuring the $1,000-to-win Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Mini Stock Clash. Fans got the chance to meet drivers at pre-race autograph session behind the main grandstand while drivers also had the opportunity to sell their merchandise at the racer’s marketplace.

The big 25-lap event for the Mini Stocks saw Wayde Thorne claim the $1,000 winner’s prize while Ryan Hillar scored $500 as the runner-up and Tyler Lafantasie earned $300 for a third-place finish. When the dust settled, it was Dylan Westbrook scoring a record-breaking 28th career win with the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars and Nick Sheridan who claimed victory with the Strickland’s Brantford Chevrolet Crate Sprint Cars for the third time this season. Dave Bailey claimed the checkered flag in the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock feature.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars

Matt Farnham and Shone Evans started on the front row for the 20-lap Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car A-Feature. When the checkered flag waved, it was 10th-starting Dylan Westbrook who claimed his record-setting 28th career 360 Sprint Car win at Ohsweken to take sole possession first on the track’s all-time win’s list. Scott Kreutter, who was the night’s Ackland Insurance Top Gun award winner after driving from seventh to first in his heat, finished second after starting third. Jim Huppunen drove from sixth to a third-place finish while Mack DeMan and Cory Turner completed the top-five. Farnham, Kreutter and Mitch Brown won their qualifying heat races to start the night.

Strickland’s Brantford Chevrolet Crate Sprint Cars

Dereck Lemyre and Nick Sheridan paced the field to the green flag for the 20-lap Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars feature. Sheridan started outside the front row and jumped out to an early lead and then led all 20 laps as the rookie scored his third win of the season. DJ Christie raced from seventh to a second-place finish while Hannah Ferrell completed the podium. Lucas Smith and Jacob Dykstra completed the top-five finishers. Sheridan, Terry Baker, Lemyre and Dykstra won their qualifying heats to begin the nights while Blaine Barrow won the B-Main.

Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks

Kacey Huffman and Chris Dickie brought the field of Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks to the line for the green flag, but it was Burger Barn Racing’s Mark Bazuin who led the opening lap. Bazuin paced the field through the first six laps until Ryan Dinning took over the point on lap seven. Current point leader Dave Bailey, who suffered a flat tire on the opening lap, was able to change the tire and make a charge back to the front. Bailey took the lead on lap 15 and paced the final six laps to score his sixth win of the season. Bazuin, Dinning and Ken Sargent scored victories in the qualifying heats earlier in the night.

HRW Automotive Mini Stocks

Christopher French and Aidan Nigh were on the front row for the 25-lap and $1,000-to-win Gale’s Mini Stock Clash. Nigh led the opening two laps before seventh-starting Jason Tolton led lap three. Then on lap four, 12th-starting Wayde Thorne drove to the point and led the next 17 laps while 14th-starting Ryan Hillar challenged Thorne for the lead. Hillar took over the top spot on lap 22 while Thorne stayed close. On the final lap, Thorne was able to steal the lead back to claim the $1,000 win. Hillar settled for second while Tyler Lafantasie finished third after racing from 19th spot following his B-Main win. Dusty DeBoer and Tristan Da Silva rounded out the top-five.
