The point leaders from all six sanctioning bodies are pre-entered in the event as well as the current ASCS National points leader. Burger Barn Night Before the Nationals
The Burger Barn Night Before the Nationals will feature a full night of action, headlined by the 360 Sprint Cars along with the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks also in action for a jam-packed Friday night. For the first time, the Night Before the Nationals has expanded to include triple 15-lap features with the winner of each race guaranteed to start 11th or better for Saturday’s A-Feature. The Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks will battle in their final Features of the season. With the points chases already wrapped up in both stock car divisions, it’s a race for bragging rights.
15th Annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals
Its Ohsweken’s biggest and most exciting event of the year and in 2019 the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals are shaping up to be one of its most entertaining. In addition to the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars racing for the $10,000 USD winner’s prize, the Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com will crown its 2019 champion with its final race of the season to round out an entirely Winged Sprint Car racing program that should see over 100 Sprint Cars in attendance.
Among those drivers pre-entered in the event is American Sprint Car Series National Tour point leader Sam Hafertepe Jr. The Rockwall, TX driver picked up the win last week at Ohsweken in a tune-up as he tries to earn his second career Nationals win after winning in 2011. Hafertepe’s Hill’s Racing teammate, Dylan Westbrook, scored his third-straight Ohsweken championship and now will look for his first Nationals win. Ryan Turner, an Ohsweken regular and the 2019 Southern Ontario Sprints champion, is also coming into the night in search of his first Nationals triumph in his second year racing for the Burger Barn Racing team.
The current Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints point leader, Paulie Colagiovanni, comes into the weekend looking to become a new CSCN winner after scoring seven wins on the ESS tour so far this year. The top three in Patriot Sprint Tour points are all entered as well, including New Jersey’s Davie Franek, New York’s Joe Trenca, and Pennsylvania’s Jordan Thomas. Add to the list the NRA Sprint Invaders’ champion ‘the Hurricane’ Randy Hannagan and it’s a formidable list of challengers, before even mentioning Great Lakes Super Sprints champion Phil Gressman of Helena, OH and GLSS runner-up Dustin Daggett, the only driver to qualify for every previous edition of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
Also pre-entered is two-time and defending CSCN champion Parker Price-Miller, who returns to race with the Hill’s Racing team for the 2019 edition of the event. Steve Poirier, one of two drivers to win the Nationals three times, is also set to return to battle for his first title since 2012. For the full list of drivers pre-entered, visit http://ohswekenspeedway.ca/8691-2/.
For the Action Sprint Tour powered by RaceRivalz.com, Saturday’s race will likely result in Beamsville, Ont. native Josh Hansen winning his first career Sprint Car championship. Hansen simply has to start his heat race to be crowned champion. The teenage pilot of the No.88h will compete in both classes, running his Crate car while also making his first Nationals appearance in his 360 car. Liam Martin enters the night second in AST points with a 12-point advantage over Paul Klager. Jacob Dykstra is 12 points back of Klager in fourth and has a 15-point lead over fifth-place Steven Beckett.
