OHSWEKEN, ON – The 2012 edition of Ohsweken Speedway’s Friday Night Thunder series is set to conclude this Friday, September 7 when O’Neil’s Farm Equipment and Case IH present the Season Championships for all
divisions.
The Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, Lighthouse Tattoos Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Pierced Parts Bombers will contest extra-distance feature races this Friday, and the championships in each division are still up for grabs, as many drivers still have legitimate chances to win.
CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS: The incredibly close championship chase in the Sprint Car division finds 2009 track champion Tom Huppunen at the top of the list, but the top 4 drivers are separated by just 7 points heading into the final event. Chris Steele is currently 2nd in the standings, just 3 points behind Huppunen, while Glenn Styres is 6 points behind the leader, and Travis Cunningham is just 1 point behind Styres. Dain Naida rounds out the top 5, while Shane Ross is the current Rookie of the Year leader.
LIGHTHOUSE TATTOOS THUNDER STOCKS: Mike Thorne leads the Thunder Stock standings by just 6 points over Jack Myers, as Thorne tries to successfully defend his 2011 championship. The #5h team of Devin Habiuk
and Pete Reid is currently 3rd, followed by Wyatt Van Wart, and Lee Winger. The Rookie of the Year award is still up for grabs as well, with Jake Brown currently holding a 10 point lead over Ryan Turner in that category.
HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS: Karl Sault enjoys the largest margin of any of the Ohsweken points leaders, as he has a 20 point lead over Mike Evers heading into Friday’s finale. Jason Lungaro, Jeremy Hughes, and the #02 team of Mike Taylor and Mark Czuba rounds out the current top 5, while Dale Gyokery leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
PIERCED PARTS BOMBERS: The closest title fight is found in the Bomber division, where Davey Boughton holds a narrow 1 point advantage over Max Chechalk with 1 race left on the schedule. Dusty DeBoer, Kathi Dickie, and Brady Longboat round out the top 5.
RIDE WITH THE PROS: Ohsweken Speedway has two custom-built two-seater Sprint Cars available each race night for rides. Please visit www.OhswekenTwoSeater.com to learn how you can take the ride of your life with one of the stars of the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division!
