@OhswekenSpdway • (September 10, 2015) – Ohsweken, Ontario – Ohsweken Speedway’s 20th season of racing continues this Friday, September 11 when Durnin Motors presents a special postseason event.

The event will include a rare appearance by the UMP Modifieds, a 50 lap Duel on the Dirt series event for the Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Vintage Cars.

The UMP Modifieds are a Saturday night fixture at South Buxton Raceway, but rarely venture east of the Chatham-area facility. Anticipation is high among the drivers and teams, and many will be racing at Ohsweken for the first time. The first and only UMP Modified event at Ohsweken to date was held in August of 2009. Close to 20 UMP Modified teams have already declared their intention to compete at Ohsweken on Friday night, including 9 of the top 10 in the South Buxton championship standings.

The Duel on the Dirt series has included teams from Merrittville Speedway’s Hoosier Stock division and Brighton Speedway’s Pro Stock division for over a decade, and expanded this season to include Ohsweken Speedway’s Thunder Stocks, and Humberstone Speedway’s Street Stocks. The 2015 Duel on the Dirt series consists of four 50 lap events – one at each track – and two “home track” nights designated by each speedway. Each 50 Lap race pays $1000 to the winner, while the series champion will claim another $1,000. The total points fund will see $4,000 divided among the top 24 drivers.

The first of the combined Duel on the Dirt series races was held August 2 during Humberstone Speedway’s All Canadian Championship event. Ohsweken Speedway hosts the series this Friday, while Merrittville Speedway hosts on Saturday to create a doubleheader weekend. The final event will be held at Brighton Speedway on Saturday, September 26 during Applefest Shootout weekend.

Dave Bailey clinched his first Thunder Stock championship at Ohsweken last Friday, and heads into this weekend’s events as the Duel on the Dirt series points leader as well. Justin Ramsey, Brandon Murrell, Mark Fawcett, and Jim Lampman make up the remainder of the current top 5.
