OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 18, 2019) – The Action Sprint Tour’s busy month of July continues when the series heads to its birthplace at Ohsweken Speedway on Tuesday, July 23 for the $1,000 CAD-to-win Northern Summer Nationals. The race will air live on MavTV Canada as part of the fourth episode of All North Racing powered by Pinty’s. Race time is 7:30pm with hot laps scheduled for 7:00pm. Entering the sixth event of the season, Josh Hansen of Beamsville, Ont. sits on top of the Action Sprint Tour standings. His 30-point advantage is courtesy of two wins and two second-place finishes in four starts. The 360 Sprint Car rookie is proving he hasn’t forgotten how to perform when he returns to his roots and has been the car to beat each night he unloads the JNE Recovery No.88h.
Currently second in the standings is Liam Martin of Binbrook, Ont. The teenage driver of the No.29 has been strong on tour, gathering a win and three top-five finishes on tour this season. Martin scored a victory at Southern Ontario Motor Speedway and has continued to build momentum after scoring a third-place finish at Humberstone last Sunday night.
Caledonia’s Ryan Hunsinger has moved into third in the championship standings on the strength of his third top-five finish last time out at Humberstone. Hunsinger, who is by far the most experienced driver on the Action Sprint Tour’s roster, continues to challenge for a podium finish each time he unloads his self-owned No.r52.
Two points back of Hunsinger is Jacob Dykstra. The Port Colborne, Ont. teenager finished an uncharacteristic 10th on Sunday at his hometown track and will be eager to add to his pair of top-five finishes when he returns to his weekly track with the tour.
Currently bookending the top-five is Beamsville’s Paul Klager. The former Mod Lite champion continues to enjoy a solid sophomore season in his No.1eh Crate Sprint Car. Klager has a trio of top-10 finishes, including two top-five results. He enters Tuesday’s race at Ohsweken 14 points back of Dykstra for fourth.
The points chase continues throughout the top-10 with the tour’s most recent winner, Steven Beckett sitting sixth in the standings. The Fonthill, Ont. driver’s victory at Humberstone was the first of his Sprint Car career after he also transitioned from Mod Lites. Beckett is currently just three points back of Klager for fifth.
Welland’s Blaine Barrow sits 13 points back of Beckett in seventh and 10 points ahead of eighth-place Jerry Hill. Glenn Styres Racing teammates Jesse McDonald and Spencer Davis round out the Action Sprint Tour’s current top-10.
