TORONTO, ON (July 31, 2012) – “The Push,” a new video starring Compass360 Racing’s World Challenge racecar driver Shea Holbrook, shows just how close Canada’s top-selling production car is to the asphalt-hugging, tire-squealing, sponsor-clad racing machines that you watch on the track. “When you drive the Civic Si, you can really feel Honda’s racing heritage. It’s almost like all those great Honda drivers from the past are in the car with you,” said Shea Holbrook. “Our car is a bit lighter and more aggressively tuned but other than that, it’s the same vehicle. The bonus is that consumers get the comfy seats and killer audio system with their models.”

Developed by Honda Canada with the help of Holbrook’s Compass360 Racing team, the video was filmed in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and highlights the 2012 Honda Civic Si HFP’s (Honda Factory Performance) styling and performance attributes on a closed course with professional drivers that know the Civic brand extremely well.

“As a team, we race the Honda Civic Si because it gives us the best overall package to start from,” said Compass360 Racing’s Managing Director, Karl Thomson. “Without modifying very much, Civic gives us enough power to compete on the straight-aways but a real handling advantage getting in and out of the corners. In racing, it’s all about who can get through the turns the fastest.”

For fourteen years, the Honda Civic has been Canada’s top-selling car, earning a reputation for safety, reliability and efficiency. In fact, more than 1.6 million Honda Civics have been sold in Canada since 1973 and current sales suggest that consumers still agree that there is a Civic for everyone. With this unbeatable reputation already established, Honda can now focus its attention on reminding consumers what it all started with – performance, styling and fun!

“Civic is more than safe and reliable. Civic is wild and fun,” said Dave Jamieson, assistant vice president, Honda Canada. “Everything Honda has ever learned on the race track has influenced this car. It’s quick, it’s sporty and it reacts to whatever you want it to do. Our hope is that this video will remind our current Civic owners about what they have and also encourage new, young buyers to take one for a spin.”
