@OpenRoadCA •@Scott_Hargrove • @PorscheCanada • @IMSA •VANCOUVER, B.C. – After a dramatic weekend of racing at the Toronto Indy, Scott Hargrove is one win closer to taking the lead in the 2016 Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Challenge Canada.
The 21-year-old champion race car driver from Surrey, B.C., beat title rival Daniel Morad to the finish by 13.523 seconds in the No. 28 OpenRoad Racing Porsche for his fourth victory of the season.
Hargrove led by more than 10 seconds with 12 minutes remaining in Round 7 on Saturday when his car lost drive due to a broken drive shaft, handing Morad the victory. On Sunday, Hargrove came back from the disappointing loss to beat Morad within three points of Morad for the lead in the Platinum Cup championship, with four rounds remaining this season. Rounds 9 and 10 of the 12-round Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama are scheduled for August 12 – 14 at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, QC.
“The car was phenomenal,” Hargrove said. “The OpenRoad car was unreal this whole weekend. Same boat yesterday, but we made up for it today. I’m happy and ready to continue this exact same thing the rest of the year.”
Hargrove began racing with OpenRoad Racing during the 2014 season with a sweep of both Victoria Day Weekend races at CTMP, and claimed the Platinum Cup Championship with a record of six wins and four runner up finishes, including winning the season ending race by more than 14 seconds, which was the second-largest winning gap of the season by any driver.
