With the current cold snap Brighton Speedway officials are working around the clock to turn the normally 1/3rd mile clay oval into an icy surface preparing for 2013 edition of the Bay Marine Winterfest Oval Ice Races. The event that the Speedway was forced to cancel all together in 2012 due to an extremely mild winter should be back full steam on January 26th.
“We expect to build close to a foot of ice this week to give a great surface for the riders and drivers” states track promoter Mark Rinaldi. The day of exciting action will feature snowmobiles, 2wd four wheelers, 4wd four wheelers, side by sides and the always extremely exciting Ice Bikes! The day will be ended off with a 30 lap endurance race for cars. There are also classes for youths to compete in. Complete details can be found on the Speedway web site at www.brightonspeedway.com.
Gates open at 9 am and racing starts at 11 am, admission is just $10.00. Hot food and indoor seating is available in the Lucas Oil Top Deck. Don’t miss this exciting event as we kick off the 2013 season Icy style!
