BRIGHTON (July 3, 2014) – The Mid-Season Championships presented by Brighton Automotive and Mystical Distributing will kick off the month of July at Brighton Speedway this Saturday. Extended features for four divisions are sure to excite another full grandstand. Mystical Distributing will present a full firework display at the end of the night as an added bonus. Fans will also get the chance to take in time trials prior to qualifying heats.

The Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models will run one of their longest races with a 50-lap feature to headline the night. The field will battle through single-car time trials to determine their heat race starting orders. Current point leader Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) set the fast time last year with a lap of 15.175 seconds. Steve Baldwin (No.5 cigarchief.com) and Phil Potts (No.29 Vanderlaan) complete the current top-three in the standings.

The OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds will do battle for 40 laps and compete in their own set of time trials. Adam Whaley (No.12 John’s Equipment) set the fast time in 2013 at 16.622 seconds. Andrew Hennessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) is the current points leader and earned Driver of the Month honours after he continued a streak of four consecutive wins in June. He holds a narrow 45-point lead over Ryan Scott (No.33 J&J Automotive) while Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise) is third.

The Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks will turn 25 laps for their feature event after time trials. Point leader Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Bobcat Service) set the fast time last season at 18.037 seconds. Fresh off her first career win, Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormier’s Auto Recycling) is just 35 points behind Anderson in the standings while Justin Ramsay (No. 03 Empey Tire) sits third.

The Bill’s Johns Comp 4s will also get the chance to lay down their quickest lap before the 20-lap main event. Tom Vance set last year’s fast time but has moved on from the division. Rich Sanders (No.29 Fowl Mood Racing) leads the standings after three consecutive victories. Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating) and Shelby Mills (No.78 ABC Taxi) are 145 and 235 points behind Sanders, respectively.

The Quinte Septic Stingers return to action after a week off with a regular 12-lap feature. They will not compete in time trials. Del MacGregor (No.19 R. Ward Landscape) is undefeated so far this season. He sits a top the standings ahead of Jordan Pickell (No.93 Sowerby Signs) and Christopher Lammle (No.95 Lammle Repair).
