BRIGHTON – The TUSA Canada East Mod Lites will make their only appearance of the 2014 season at Brighton Speedway this Saturday on Deerhaven Farm and Garden night. The Gord’s Water Vantastics will also be part of the program for the first time this season.
The Mod Lites will chase the Brighton 1/3-mile after competing at Mohawk Raceway on Friday. The TUSA Canada West Mod lite tour competed in a triple-header weekend June 20-22 in the Niagara area at Ohsweken, Merrittville, and Humberstone Speedways. Many of the same drivers will be in action this weekend at Brighton.
The eighth round of the weekly chase for the 2014 championship continues this week for the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s. Meanwhile, the OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds will compete in round two of the RONA Trenton Triple Crown.
After a win last week, Steve Baldwin (No.5 cigarchief.com) has cut Charlie Sandercock’s (No.57 Deerhaven Farm and Garden) lead in the Pro Late Model standings to 75 points. Phil Potts (No.29 Vanderlaan), Matt Vanderlinden (No.09 Integra Racing Shocks), and Adam Turner (No.92 Village Variety) trail Baldwin in the top-five.
On the strength of his fourth consecutive win, Andrew Hennessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) has stayed at the top of the Canadian Modified standings. Hennessy leads Ryan Scott (No.33 J&J Automotive), Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise), Doug O’Blenis (No.32 John’s Car Care), and Adam Whaley (No.12 John’s Equipment) at the top of the division.
The Pro Stock division has been dominated by Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire) and Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Bobcat Service). Both drivers have earned three wins in six race nights after Ramsay secured a trip to victory lane each of the last two times he has unloaded. After a couple of early season mechanical problems, Ramsay sits third in the standings. Anderson leads Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormers Auto Recycling), Ramsay, Wade Purchase (No.53 Paul Turner Auto), and Jason McCrory (No.49 NOCO Fuels) at the top of the leader board.
After waiting 20 years to find victory lane for the first time, Rich Sanders (No.29 Fowl Mood Racing) has won two consecutive Bill’s Johns Comp 4s main events. He currently leads Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating) by 125 points. Shelby Mills (No.78 ABC Taxi), Emily Weedman (No.87 Nate’s Auto Cosmedix), and Terry Hough (No.32 The Vinyl Solution) secure the final three spots in the top-five.
