MILLGROVE, ON – Although there were some Americans that crossed the border last Saturday, August 1, Doug Butler once again proved why he is one of the best Mini Stock racers across the province of Ontario as he was victorious in the National Compact Touring Series event at Flamboro Speedway.
After laying down the third-quickest time in qualifying, the invert saw Doug Butler start outside the top-10. He did not let that deter him, breaking into the top-five on Lap 13 before taking over the lead six laps later. He then led the rest of the way en route to his second victory on the weekend after winning at Delaware Speedway the night before. Shawn Taylor was second ahead of Tyler Lewis, Mike Thomson, and Matt Young.
Roland Goodfellow ran inside the top-10 throughout the race to finish sixth in front of Chris Pendlebury, Dustin Goodfellow, Gary Triska, and Matt McGrath. Bobby Mercer ran inside the top-five for the first half, fading back to 11th, followed by Austyn Jennett, Dalton Irish, Chris Pinder, Eric Pomasko, Curtis Burnett, Mike Robinson III, John Cote, Mark Thorne, Peyton Lewis, Andrew Smith, and Chris Cunningham.
Jordan Ramsbottom led flag-to-flag en route to winning the first Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modified feature ahead of TJ Marshall, Ty Riopelle, Chris Pendlebury, Mike Podd, Alexandria Ditner, Scott Tonelli, Steve Murdoch, and Dave Evison Sr.
Steve Murdoch won the second Canadian Vintage Modified feature ahead of Ty Riopelle, Jordan Ramsbottom, TJ Marshall, Mike Podd, Scott Tonelli, Chris Pendlebury, Alexandria Ditner, RJ Croteau, and Dave Evison Sr.
John Baker Jr. took the lead on Lap 7 en route to winning the first Gen 3 SportsMods feature ahead of Kyle Gordon, Garrett Yake, Rick Warnes, and Chad Strawn. Dan McHattie ran inside the top-five for most of the feature, fading back late for sixth in front of Ethan Thompson, Craig Stevenson, Glenn Morris, and Bobbie Toms.
John Baker Jr. swept the night in feature two ahead of Chad Strawn, Kyle Gordon, Dan McHattie, and Rick Warnes. Ethan Thompson was sixth in front of Garrett Yake, Craig Stevenson, Bobbie Toms, and Glenn Morris.
Matt Young kept his success rolling with another victory in the first Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks feature ahead of Spencer Riddell, Chase Mitchell, Chance Rogers, and Gary Slama. Brandyn Milligan’s consistency continued with a sixth in front of Megan Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Rick Mitchell, and John Cote. Leo Labarbera was 11th, followed by Mark Allan, Randy Rodgers, William Young, Dan Ramey, Hailey Hill, and Phil Givens.
Gary Slama took the lead with eight laps to go to win the second feature ahead of Leo Labarbera, Brandyn Milligan, John Cote, and Rick Mitchell. Matt Young made it a solid night with a sixth in front of Rodney Rutherford, Chase Mitchell, Phil Givens, and Rachel Mitchell. Spencer Riddell made little progress after starting mid-pack for 11th, followed by Chance Rogers, Megan Mitchell, Hailey Hill, Mark Allan, William Young, and Randy Rodgers.
Robert Mercer won the first Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA) feature ahead of Shannon Morris, Riley Mercer, Brad Maitland, and Ken Mercer.
Riley Mercer led early and fought back to take the lead and win the second SOMA feature ahead of Shannon Morris, Robert Mercer, Ken Mercer, and Brad Maitland.
The next event at Flamboro Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, featuring the fifth round of the Grisdale Showdown Series, with a 50-lap feature for the Late Models. The night also includes the Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Great Lakes Legend Series, Pure Stocks, and Kids Power Wheel drag races at intermission.
