MILLGROVE, ON — While it may be freezing outside, the snow is eventually going to melt and when it does, Flamboro Speedway is prepared to bring the heat, with an action-packed summer of racing.
The Millgrove, ON oval recently released their schedule for the fans, featuring weekly racing, beginning on Saturday, April 29 and ending on Saturday, October 21. Those who have been attending the speedway for years will be happy to hear that the fan favourites remain on the schedule, like Meet The Drivers Night and the Flamboro Memorial & Fan Appreciation Corn Roast Night.
The track’s core divisions are back on the calendar for 2023 – Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, each ready to offer their own dish of entertainment. With over 100 different competitors across the divisions last year, fans were thrilled by door-to-door side-by-side racing on a weekly basis, producing several different feature winners.
Of note, the ever-popular Grisdale Triple Crown will once again be a feature statement on the schedule. The past couple of years, it was done as three separate 100-lap events spread through the calendar. However, this year, the event returns back to its original format, in featuring three 50-lap features all run on the same night of competition. These will take place on the second day of Frostoberfest weekend, scheduled for Sunday, October 1.
There’s also the second annual Pot of Gold 300, set to take place on Sunday, September 3, on Labour Day weekend. No matter the amount of cars in the field, the winner will be taking home $50,000 when the event is over.
The track has a history of putting on thrilling Enduros, as evident with the year-end Halloween Enduro each season. We’ve become used to everyone having fun and getting together to end the year off with excitement and entertainment, so why not do that a little earlier in the year? The event will be an Enduro, consisting of 300 laps, broken into two parts. The first 250 laps will be run, with the top-50 transferring to the final 50 laps to battle it out for the money.
Although the core divisions always put on a show, the track is also proud to host several different touring divisions throughout 2022.
The APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour will make a pair of stops, with the first of those being scheduled for June 10, alongside the T.Q. Can-Am Midgets. The second event will then take place on July 15, alongside the Can-Am Midgets and a 50-lap Super Stock event.
Other touring classes that will make an appearance in 2023 include the OSCAAR Modifieds, OSCAAR Hot Rods, Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Ontario Modified Racing Series, Ontario Sportsman Series and the Outlaw Midgets.
As has become tradition, Flamboro Speedway will once again have a primary event during the year-end short track playoffs, with Frostoberfest, which is scheduled for September 30 and October 1. The year-end event will have 13 features across 11 different classes, so it is bound to be packed with action from the drop of the initial green flag.
Saturday, September 30 will be sponsored by London Recreational Racing, with the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models, OSCAAR Modifieds, OSCAAR Hot Rods, Mini Stocks, Legends, Junior Late Models and Mini Trucks.
On top of Sunday, October 1 featuring the Grisdale Triple Crown, the race card will also feature the Super Stocks, Outlaw Midgets and Pure Stocks in action.
The 2023 schedule will then close out with the Halloween Enduro 250 on Saturday, October 21.
