BRIGHTON (July 9, 2014) – The Sanderson’s Tire and Automotive Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) return to Brighton Speedway this Saturday for the third of six visits this season to headline a full night of racing presented by Electro Cables and VanZuylen Tire.
The SOS return to Brighton after a pair of races last weekend at Ohsweken Speedway and South Buxton Raceway. Those races tightened the points battle as Glenn Styres of Ohsweken, Ont. (No.0 Rochester Knighthawks) leads Brantford, Ont.’s Mitch Brown (No.10b Haldex) by just four points at the top of the standings. Brown has won both races at Brighton so far this season and has led all 50 laps of competition. Justin Martin (No.7m Vortex Insulation), Chris Jones (No.11j Jones Automotive), and Keith Dempster (No.5 Renway Energy) complete the top-five in the standings.
The Vanderlaand Building Products Pro Late Models provided plenty of excitement in their 50-lap main event last weekend that provided a new winner in 2014. Corey Earl (No.11 Hotch’s Auto Parts) won his first race of the season. Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) continues to lead the championship standings by 55 points over Steve Baldwin (No.5 cigarchief.com). Phil Potts (No.29 Vanderlaan) enters the night 120 markers back of the lead.
After their longest feature of the year last week, the OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds will be in action again aswell. Andrew Henessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) is fresh off is fifth win in six starts and leads the championship standings by 55 points over Ryan Scott (No.33 J&J Automotive). Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise) is currently third.
The Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks will be back in action after an exciting 25-lap Mid-Season championship last week. Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Bobcat Service) leads Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormier’s Auto Recycling) and Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire) at the top of the standings.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4s and Quinte Septic Stingers will both return to action on July 19.
As always, spectator gates are scheduled to open at 5:30pm with hot laps set to roll at 6:00pm. The first green flag is scheduled for 7:00pm.
Special pricing is in effect for the Southern Ontario Sprints. Adult general admission is $20 and a family pass is just $55.
