INNISFIL, ON – MAY 30, 2012 – Defending Sunset Speedway champion #17 Kevin Cornelius seized his second victory of the young 2012 season on Saturday night (May 26), slipping past returning ex-champion #11 Chris Morrow on lap 17 of 30 and never looking back. The Orangeville, ON veteran had entered week-4 competition as the point leader, and will leave the weekend with a 5 point lead over division rival #47 Stompin’ Tom Walters.
‘The Cheque Casher’ #88 Herb Walters claimed his third victory of the 2012 season in week-4, in a fashion very similar to that of week-3. After stalking 12-year old rookie contender #34 Cayden Lapcevich for 20 laps, Walters seized on an opening created when the youngster slid out of the racing groove exiting turn-2. The Stroud, ON veteran would hold on to the top spot through the final 10-laps, adding to his already impressive point lead. The youngster Lapcevich would hold on for second with #72 Randy Rusnell rounding out the top three.
Holland Landing, ON’s # 33 Warren Paxton took the Mini Stock honours, leading over half of the event for his first victory of the season. Rounding out the top three were # 51 Eric Yorke in second and # 41 Dan Britt in third.
