TIVERTON, ON- Fresh off of a top-15 finish at Sunset Speedway in Round 2 of the Sauble vs. Sunset ‘Home and Home Series’ on July 26th, Scott McTeer is focused on returning to victory lane this Wednesday, July 30th at Sauble’s annual ‘Dash for Cash’.
“The Dash for Cash is one of the best traditions Sauble has, it’s always fun to see what cars from across Ontario show up to race. It’s a yearly highlight for our team”, says McTeer.
The Tiverton, ON veteran will enter the event after a 13th place showing in Round 2 of the Sauble vs. Sunset ‘Home and Home Series’, and hopes to earn his 3rd checkered flag of the year on home soil.
“We’ve struggled in the past at Sunset, so a top-15 finish feels awfully good”, explains McTeer. “It’s always a huge boost of confidence when you can run well away from home, but as soon as we rolled out of Sunset’s pit area, I was immediately thinking of what we have to do to get this car ready for the Dash”
“This is a race that you circle on your calendar every Spring – there isn’t a driver on the Sauble roster that doesn’t want that surfboard trophy”
McTeer hopes a win on Wednesday night could also inject some much needed momentum into his weekly program, as he finds himself locked in a battle with perennial rival Jason Parker for the 2014 Sauble championship.
“The season is winding down pretty quickly, and as far as momentum goes, every little bit counts”, explains McTeer.
“We didn’t have the start to the season that we were hoping for, and it put us in a bit of a hole as far as the points standings go. The car’s been great the last few weeks, so now’s the time to just get back to work, rattle off some wins and see if we can’t make things interesting between Jason and I for the track championship”
