@FowlMoodRacing •@BrightonSpdwy •BRIGHTON, Ont. (June 13, 2016) – Phil Potts stretched his streak of top-five finishes at Brighton Speedway to six with a third-place tally on Saturday night at the Northumberland County 1/3-mile oval.

Potts has finished in the top-five in all six starts during weekly competition at Brighton so far this season. The Fowl Mood Race Team also earned a fifth-place result in it’s heat race prior to the strong feature race run.

“We’re still figuring out our heat setup. Our feature setup is getting better each week. We’re still fighting a tight car when the track is heavy,” Potts explained. “I’m very confident we’ll work that out. The feature’s where the money is, but I still have to qualify well.”

In the 30-lap A-Main, Potts battled with both Brandon Mowat and Charlie Sandercock for third over the final 15 laps. He exchanged the position with Mowat a handful of times before eventually emerging with a third-place finish.

“I was running the top because it seemed really good and the car was turning well. I dove to the bottom because I was following Mowat. He was in my line, so I had to try another line. I dove to the bottom and it stuck,” Potts explained. “The car came off the car well on the bottom.”

Another strong run inside the top-five helps Potts to maintain spot inside a very fluid top-five in the championship standings. So far this season, five different drivers have won in six races, including Potts who won on opening night April 30.

The tight racing has been clean, despite the necessity to be more aggressive and move to the front of the field quickly, Potts said.

“You’ve got to get to the front as fast as you can without taking the chance of cutting a tire down,” Potts said. “It used to be you could wait. Now it’s 30 laps green flag and you can’t wait.”

Potts and the rest of the Fowl Mood Race Team will continue their march towards the 2016 track championship on Saturday, June 18 at Brighton when the Southern Ontario Sprints will also be on hand. Potts is hungry to get another win and the first with his new car, which the team has nicknamed Foghorn the Longhorn.

“We’re very happy. I want to win again, but I know we have to slowly figure the car out. As long as we can keep taking the top-threes, then we’ll be alright,” Potts stated.

Additional event information for the June 18 event at Brighton Speedway is available at www.brightonspeedway.ca.
