PETERBOROUGH, ON – With the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models joining the home track Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Late Model and Junior Late Model teams, the 2026 schedule reached the unofficial halfway mark – Saturday, July 11th – with the Mid-Season Bash at Peterborough Speedway.
First from the staging area was a 15 lap or 20-minute headliner with the Nadeau’s Collision Service Junior Late Models that saw Lyla Sikma and Brayden Cappuccitti on the front row. After Sikma led the opening lap, Owen Ephgrave took over control of the field as the lap counter showed a couple circuits complete. Slower traffic became an issue for the leaders with 6 laps on the board and Ephgrave moving out to a strong advantage over the runner-up position. The main event went caution free, with Ephgrave taking the win over Sikma. Brayden Cappuccitti, Kaden Beatty and Brody Coates completed the top 5.
A pair of heavy hitters were on the front row, as Ryan Kimball and Dan McHattie brought the Late Model field to the line for a 30 lap ‘A’ main event.
After having the initial start waved off, Ollie Ferguson took the early race lead, with Kimball and McHattie close behind. Kimball – who scored his first career dirt Street Stock win at Cornwall Speedway less than a week ago – took the lead with 4 laps complete and was joined by McHattie in a 2-car breakaway as the laps wound down. Last week’s winner Kelly Balson moved into a top 5 spot with 10 laps remaining and was running 3rd with only a trio of laps to go. Reigning track champion Ryan Kimball held on for the win over McHattie. Balson, Ferguson and former OMRS Modifieds champion Alex Cuzzilla completed the top 5.
Glenn Watson and TJ Edwards brought the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model starting field to the Great Canadian RV green flag for a 50-lap headliner. As soon as the pack crossed the line, Watson took control things. Early on he had as much as a 6-car length lead on the competition, an advantage he’d hold until the first yellow flag for an issue on the frontstretch with 11 laps complete. He’d continue his dominance of the restart and had a lead of about half a track at the midway point. Brandon Passer would get close following a late race caution, but there was no stopping Glenn Watson who claimed the win. Marlie Owen, Dustyn Mombourquette and Dwayne Baker completed the top 5.
With Rob Crick and Tiffany Vandebelt – subbing for Carol Dawson – on the front row and 20 laps to settle the score, 16 SwitchTire Mini Stock teams tackled the popular oval on Mount Pleasant Road. Wheeling a ride his team built over the winter, Crick grabbed the early race lead. He turned in a strong run and survived a pair of cautions and a red flag period and still managed to earn a trip to the winner’s circle. John Lavalle, Christen Lavalle, Chris Cunnington and Kent Missons completed the top 5. Coleridge Phinnemore was originally credited with the runner-up spot, but his No. 80 machine was disqualified because of the use of unapproved aftermarket control arms.
Isaiah Switzer and Scott Jacobs lined up on the front row for the 20-lap Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck main event. Jacobs took the early lead, with Switzer and Shawn Murray making up the top 3. A yellow flag for an issue on the backstretch slowed the pace and although Jacobs still held the top spot on the restart, he was now facing a challenge from a couple of front runners. Howie Crowe used the outside line to let Jacobs know he was there, before the No. 62 truck took the lead with 5 laps remaining. Kyle Gordon came along and moved into the runner-up position a lap later. Crowe, Gordon and Murray made-up the top 3 at the checkered flag. Jacobs and Stacy Switzer rounded out the top 5.
Kaden Beatty and Owen Ephgrave shared the night’s Junior Late Model preliminary rounds, with Late Model qualifiers going to Ryan Kimball and Dan McHattie. Marlie Owen and TJ Edwards locked up their main event starting spots with OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model heat race wins. Cameron McGlashan and Matt McGrath each took a Mini Stock checkered flag, with Kyle Gordon and Scott Jacobs splitting the Renegade Truck heat races.
The No. 31 of Dave Bragg and No. 23 of Tegan Stanley were both disqualified following the opening Mini Stock heat. Bragg’s car had a ride height violation, while Stanley’s car was found to be too light. All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to post-race inspection and scoring review.
Bullring bullet points: A frontstretch wreck in the first Mini Stock heat race saw the No. 17 of Aundrea Lusk make hard contact with the with the retaining wall. Officials checked her at the track and called provincial rescue personnel for emergency transport. Lusk was kept overnight for observation and released Sunday morning. Team officials confirmed she is being treated for bruising and fractures…The Kinsmen 50/50 draw paid $855 to a winner who asked to remain anonymous.
The 2026 schedule rolls on Saturday, July 18th with the GEN-3 Electrical SportsMods, presented by OMRS Bill Pickford Memorial. The penultimate night of action for the month also includes local Mini Stock and Super Stocks divisions, along with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Cars and KOD Disposal Ontario Bandoleros. The night’s intermission feature will be Kid’s Bike Races.
