BRIGHTON (July 23, 2014) – One of the biggest shows of the summer is about to hit Brighton Speedway this Saturday night. On July 26, Owasco RV presents the Adecco Summer Slam featuring Monster Trucks Badlands Park Patrol and Quad Chaos.
These high-powered, monster-sized trucks are set to put on a show. Quad Chaos is actually the world’s largest ATV! The trucks will compete in a wheelie contest, freestyle show, and destruction competition. The trucks will set out to destroy an entire lot of Brighton Recycling cars.
The Monster Trucks will also be on display in front of the speedway prior to racing action so fans can see the trucks up close and get autographs from the drivers.
A full slate of stock car racing is on the schedule, featuring the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models, OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4s, and the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club.
After rain cancelled last week’s racing, all drivers will be eager to get back to the clay. Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) is the most recent winner at Brighton and won last Friday at Can-Am Speedway in Lafargeville, NY. He leads the standings over Steve Baldwin (No.5 cigarchief.com) by 100 points at the halfway point in the year. Phil Potts (No.29 Vanderlaan), Matt Vanderlinden (No.09 Integra Racing Shocks), and Adam Turner (No.92 Village Variety) complete the current top-five.
Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise) is the most recent Canadian Modified winner after earning the victory on July 12. Ferguson sits third in the championship standings behind Andrew Hennessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) and Ryan Scott (No.33 J&J Automotive). Adam Whaley (No.12 John’s Equipment) and Doug O’Blenis (No.32 John’s Car Care) complete the top-five.
The Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks had a fantastic final five lap dash to the finish one week ago. Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Bobcat Service) leads the championship standings by just five points over Leslie Mowat (No.2 Cormier’s Auto Recycling). Jamie Marshall (No.55 C&L Upholstery), Wade Purchase (No.53 Paul Turner Auto Repair), and Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire) complete the top-five.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4s return to action after two weeks in the garage. Rich Sanders (No.29 Fowl Mood Racing) leads the points after tallying four consecutive wins. Shelby Mills (No.78 ABC Taxi) sits second ahead of Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating), Emily Weedman (No.87 Nate’s Auto Cosmedix), and Riley Greer (No.47 Clark’s Automotive).
Spectator gates are scheduled to open early at 4:00pm to allow fans extra time to see the trucks up close . Racing action is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm. Stock car hot laps will take place at 6:00pm.
Adult admission is just $15 and children aged 7-12 are just $4. A family pass valid for two adults and two children (16 and under) is just $40. The family pass also includes a family-size popcorn.
