What to watch for: Super DIRTcar Series makes long-awaited return to Canada

July 31, 2023

May 14, 2013- The 2013 racing season finally got underway at Brockville Speedway for Brian McDonald and the LaSalle Motorsports team.  After months of hard work in the shop working to improve on their program, anticipation was high going into the new season, and the team was hoping to get off to a good start.

It was soon evident that the off-season work was gonna pay off, as McDonald went out and won his qualifying heat race.  He started on the outside of the second row for the 30 lap main event, and quickly moved forward.  Despite several early race cautions, McDonald grabbed the top spot by lap four, and withstood a wild first half of the race.   As the race progressed, McDonald continued to lead the way, and withstood several challenges from multiple drivers on the restarts to capture his first Brockville Speedway win since 2009.

“It has been a while since we were able to get to victory lane”, said McDonald after the race.  “I really have to thanks Mike and Lori and the LaSalle Motorsports team.  It is pretty special for us to win on Glen Gould Memorial night, he was a great man, and is missed by everyone”.

This coming weekend, McDonald will split his time with the LaSalle Motorsports team and his own KB Motorsports team.  He will be at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for their season opener, back at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, and Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday for a 100 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series/Canadian Nationals Series event.

LaSalle Motorsports and Mike and Lori’s Northwood 2 Construction business, and Brian McDonald’s KB Motorsports West Front Construction team would like to thank their 2013 sponsors.  They include Home Hardware – Brockville, Kriska Transportation, Lundy Mechanical, Seaway Doors, Engine Research, Steve Polite Sand & Gravel, Splash Well Drilling and ShellShockLids.com.
