May 14, 2013 – After much anticipation, Ryan Arbuthnot finally got the 2013 racing season underway at Brockville Speedway this past Saturday night. This will start a very busy schedule for the team, which intensifies over this coming week, with opening night at Cornwall now just a few days away with a 100 lap Mr. DIRTcar Series race, and a Series race at Merrittville Speedway the following day.
The evening started well for Arbuthnot at Brockville on Saturday night. He finished third in his qualifying heat race, moving up one position from his fourth place starting position. In the 30 lap main event, he started from the 12th position and quickly moved into the top ten in the opening laps. An early race incident sent him to the rear of the field for a lap four restart, and would have to fight his way back through the field, and would eventually get back to his original 12th place starting position as the race ended.
“I bent the front end up pretty good early in the race, and the car was a handful to drive after that”, says Arbuthnot. “We will get things straightened out, and I am looking forward to getting back on the track next weekend”.
This coming weekend, Ryan will return to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, then on to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday for their opening night, consisting of a 100 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series/Canadian Nationals Series event. After Cornwall, they will make the long trek up to Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario for round two of the Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series on Victoria Day Monday.
