FRASERVILLE, ON (July 21, 2017)- A full field of Eastern Ontario Legends Series presented by Trailers Plus drivers were on hand for their eighth race of the season. Terry McClelland and Cole McFadden were on the front row for the 20-lap main event. McClelland jumped out front to lead the opening lap, but it was third-starting Kevin Foisy who raced to the point position on lap two.
The race was slowed for caution on lap three when Dave Riopelle slowed to a stop in turn two with problems on his No.92 and then again on lap five when Cory Richardson and Bill Mason collided.
Matt Haufe, who started in sixth, wasted little time working his way forward and on lap 10 worked to the inside of Adam Cuthbertson’s No.79 in turn one to wrestle the second position away. Foisy continued to lead with a 10-car length advantage over Haufe.
His lead was eliminated when the caution waved for the third time on lap 13 after Cole McFadden lost an oil plug and spun in his own fluid in turn one. The young driver displayed remarkable car control as spun at full speed while driving into turn one and avoided hard contact with the outside wall.
Foisy managed to maintain the lead on the restart, but with Haufe lurking right behind him. Haufe continuously looked to the inside lane for an advantage and on lap 18 saw his opportunity in turn four. Haufe ducked to the bottom lane and drove off to lead the final three laps. The victory was the eighth straight for Haufe, an Ottawa, Ont. native, who remains undefeated in 2017 with the Eastern Ontario Legends Series.
