@VintageMods • FLAMBORO, Ont. (August 3, 2015) – TJ Marshall (No.15 Sweers Custom Painting) used an early race pass to get by Ben Charbonneau (No.2 Steve Scherer Chevrolet) and never relinquished the point on route to his third win of the season with the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds on Saturday, August 1 at Flamboro Speedway.

Daryl Henwood (No.29 Mettetech Industries) and Cassidy March (No.25 H&M Auto) brought the field to the green flag for the 25-lap showdown. The race was slowed early on when Charbonneau spun in turn three.

The ensuing restart allowed Steve Trendell (No.57 Combined Auto & Truck Repair) and Jason Keen (No.18 Oakville Auto and Diesel Machine Shop) to challenge Marshall for the lead. Marshall continued to lead the three-car breakaway until the lead was erased by the race’s second caution on lap 14.

The restart put Trendell directly to Marshall’s outside and the No.57 got an excellent job on the restart. The bottom proved fastest, however, allowing Marshall to maintain the point position while Keen slipped to second as Trendell was shuffled back to third.

Jeremy Riopelle (No.88 Young Drivers of Canada) caught the lead group in the dying lap and began to pressure Trendell for the final podium position. Meanwhile, Keen was focused on taking the lead from Marshall.

Trendell fought handling issues as the laps ticked off and conceded the third position to Riopelle on the final lap. Keen could not solve Marshall’s No.15 before the checkered flag flew. The win was Marshall’s third of the season and second in a row after winning at Delaware Speedway on July 24.

In qualifying heat race action, Henwood drove his No.29 to victory lane, narrowly edging Charbonneau. The second heat race was decided in convincing fashion as Trendell claimed the victory over Rick Jones (No.99 Jones Racing).

The series now takes a week off before returning to Flamboro on August 15 for round nine of 2015.
