STROUD, ON (May 25, 2018)- Running in the top-10 throughout the OSCAAR Modified Spring Velocity feature at Sunset Speedway, Luke Gignac would be caught up in a crash during the late stages of the feature.
The defending series champion showed speed during the qualifying, placing third in the first heat, followed by a victory in the second.
Starting eighth in the feature, he’d stick there in line through the early stages, moving up to seventh under the second caution at Lap 16 when a fellow competitor’s motor expired. He’d remain seventh on the restart, keeping the steady track position through the next pair of restarts. Following the fifth caution at Lap 26, he was set to challenge Chad Strawn for the sixth position.
Unfortunately, there’d be contact on the frontstretch, resulting in Gignac making significant contact with the frontstretch wall and ending his feature early. ADAMS Motorsports has already begun to asses and work on repairing the damage, ready to rebound at the next series event.
The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Kawartha Speedway on June 1 alongside the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series, Ontario Legends Series, and Bone Stocks. Make sure to come out and check out the great night of racing, remembering to either print or show the coupon to get $5 off your general admission.
