When the 2012 racing season began, Jon Mills and Hot Lick Racing faced the challenge of competing in a very competitive Sportsman division with very minimal experience.  Like many young teams, they struggled out of the gate, and had several frustrating nights with torn up equipment.  As the season progressed though, the on-track incidents declined, and by mid summer Jon was challenging consistently for top five and top ten results.

By the time the 2012 season had ended, Mills had produced nine top ten finishes and four top fives.  His best finish of the season came at Cornwall Speedway with a solid third place run.  Even more remarkably, Mills also produced top five finishes at Brockville in events before and after the Cornwall race.

The team has been busy since the 2012 season ended.  They purchased a new car, and are well underway in getting it ready for the new season.  The team does plan an aggressive schedule running weekly at Brockville Speedway and Cornwall Speedway as well as the five race St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman Series with events at Brockville, Cornwall, Mohawk Raceway, Autodrome Granby and Autodrome Drummond.  The team is planning to practice at Merrittville Speedway on April 13th and return two weeks later for Merrittville’s opening night on Saturday April 27th before Brockville opens the following week for practice.

Jon Mills and Hot Lick Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support, and we look forward to working with you all throughout the season.  These sponsors include Unique Towing & Recovery, Gananoque Auto Service, Gananoque Chev Olds, Thousand Islands Mechanical, Chris Parks Heavy Truck Repair, Finish Line Web Design, 1000 Islands Painting, Laurin General Contractors, Tony Corcoran Speed and Performance, Turk’s Boat Polishing and Speedy Auto Service (Eagleson Road – Kanata).
