ST-EUSTACHE, QC- Veteran Jeff Lapcevich clawed his way to a top-5 finish in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 competition at Autodrome St-Eustache on July 26th. Lapcevich’s run in the ‘National 250’ marked his first oval start since September 2013.
“It felt great getting back to short track racing”, smiled Lapcevich post-race. “St-Eustache is always a fun place to come and race at. It’s not an easy place to get around, but we had a great night”
The No. 76 Tim Hortons Dodge rebounded from an 11th place qualifying effort, wasting little time cutting through the field with surgical precision.
“This car could go anywhere we needed it to tonight, and that helped immensely in the first half of the race”, explained the veteran.
“We didn’t have the time trial effort we would have liked, but I would sooner have a car that’s fast for 250-laps than a car that’s fast for 2-laps”
Lapcevich reached the top-5 with less than 40-laps remaining, after a hard-fought late-race surge.
“I may have forgotten just how hard you have to work for positions on these little bullrings”, chuckled Lapcevich, “that was good hard racing in the last 50-laps or so. No one was willing to give an inch. We had to fight for every single spot”
Lapcevich’s 5th place finish marked his 3rd straight top-10 on an oval with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
The Fastline Motorsports representative will return to competition on August 10th, when the series visits Circuit de Trois-Rivieres for the ‘JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours’.
Jeff Lapcevich’s 2014 efforts are made possible thanks to Tim Hortons, Castrol, Cathcart Trucking, Troy Cove Marine, EpicRacewear by OnePromo.ca and Springer’s Meats.
