The Infiniti QX60 is a well-defined crossover which provides a degree of luxury at a reasonable cost. It has a smooth quiet ride, and its 295-hp V6 is a capable powerplant for hauling people and goods to the cottage but is nimble enough to use in regular daily activity. Now in its sixth year of production, the latest QX60 is assembled in Tennessee.
LIKES
The QX60 goes down the road well and in tranquil comfort. It has a solid feel, and its sight lines are good for a seven-seater vehicle. Infiniti has taken the four-door box shape and rounded out the body lines nicely with just enough tasteful brightwork. Acceleration is certainly adequate, and the CVT transmission can be manually shifted when in Sport mode.
WHAT’S BEST
The QX60 has a nicely-appointed interior with easy access to the third-row seats. The rear floor is flat, and it also has one of the largest gloveboxes in the industry.
WHAT’S WORST
The functions on the key fob are hard to decipher, and some color on the buttons would certainly help. The graphics screen in the driver’s view could use updating. As with all Infiniti products with the optional lane-departure warning system, the lights are situated at the bottom of the front door pillars rather than in the rear-view mirrors. It takes some acclimatizing to get used to their location.
OVERALL
This is a popular market, and the QX60 has competition from both foreign and domestic makers. The base model is certainly well-equipped, and the example tested had close to $20,000 in technological and luxury upgrades. The QX60 could use some upgrades when it comes to its graphic packages, but this is a minor point. The QX60 is a popular selection for this market, and for the first quarter of 2019, sales in Canada rose 37 percent from that time frame in 2018.
