PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… The New Humberstone Speedway is anxiously awaiting the start of the 2013 racing season at the Port Colborne speedplant. With excitement and anticipation, Track management would like to officially announce that Humberstone is returning to Sunday nights in 2013 with racing starting at 6:00pm sharp.
The New Humberstone Speedway had their rules meeting for all divisions on Wednesday January 30th at the Americana Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario. As part of the meeting, it was announced that the Late Models, are now being sanctioned by DIRTcar Northeast and will race under the UMP/DIRTcar banner.
“It’s great to see tracks like Humberstone Speedway continue to develop their DIRTcar relationship as they expand their weekly racing program. The fans will truly benefit as the region’s race teams will have more opportunities to compete,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Director of Series and Sanctioning for DIRTcar Northeast. “These additions will be especially helpful for some of our western New York racers and Canadian racers, giving them a chance to race in weekly events at a track close to home.”
Speedway management announced that longtime announcer Clinton Geoffrey is returning and is the new Director of Race Night Operations. Joining Geoffrey in the announcers box will be Dave “the Dude” Buchanan, announcer at the Ransomville Speedway. Steven Petty is also coming on board this season to be the tracks new PR Director. Petty comes from a long racing background and is a columnist in the Gater Racing News.
The tentative schedule is available online and the Modifieds make their return to Humberstone on eight occasions in 2013.
Modified drivers can choose whether or not to race their Big Blocks or their Small Blocks. The drivers can also earn their home track points at Humberstone and use them towards the overall Mr. DIRT Title. The schedule also features the return of the Empire Super Sprints to Humberstone on Sunday June 30th and Topless Night will be on June 16th. The All Canadian Championships will take center stage on August 4th and the visit from the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series will be on September 8th with their 100 lap special being a week later on September 15th. The popular Eve of Destruction with all its metal mayhem will take place on September 22nd.
The season will officially wrapup on Saturday November 16th with the annual Awards Banquet and Dinner, once again being held at the Americana Conference and Spa Hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
