PORT ELGIN, ON- A busy weekend is on tap for sophomore Limited Late Model pilot Nick Goetz. The Sauble Speedway regular will continue his quest for his first career divisional championship on Saturday night – competing alongside provincial heavyweights Scott McTeer, Jason Parker and Tom Gibbons – before making the long haul to Innisfil, ON’s Sunset Speedway for a 75-lap invitational.
“I can’t explain how excited I am to be heading back to Sunset”, beamed Goetz at a recent testing session. “Iron sharpens iron. I know that if I want to continue improving, I have to race against the best, June 16th is going to give me that opportunity”
Prior to his trek to Sunset, Goetz will look to ride his wave of momentum at Sauble, after nearly claiming his first career feature victory two weeks ago.
“My team has worked so hard to give me a competitive car. We’re so close to our first career win I can feel it. This division at Sauble is one of the best in the province, and the fact that we’re running as well as we are this early in the season gives me a lot of confidence in our program”
Sunday’s race is expected to draw the top Limited Late Model drivers in the province, including numerous track champions and crown jewel event winners, a fact that Goetz welcomes.
“We tested at Sunset last Saturday and were really happy with what we found. Our package is starting to come together and I feel as though we’ll most certainly have something for the top dogs at Sunset when we unload on Sunday afternoon”
Goetz’s 2013 efforts will enjoy marketing support from Great Lakes Concrete, Fast Eddie Race Wear, Choko Motorsports, Shoreline Beacon, Kincardine News and Adam Weir Contracting.
