MILLGROVE, ON (May 21, 2019)- The season is in full swing at Flamboro Speedway as the third night of competition saw the car counts continue to grow, with the competition growing that much closer.

Canadian Vintage Modifieds

Mike Podd opened the night by scoring his second feature victory of the season ahead of TJ Marshall, Rodney Rutherford, Brian Atkinson, and Jeremy Barton. Steve Trendell finished sixth, followed by Amanda Stoner and Mark Klotz, while Ian McIntyre failed to finish.

Jeremy Barton used a bump-and-run to score his first career feature victory in the second event ahead of Steve Trendell, TJ Marshall, Mike Podd, and Rodney Rutherford. Brian Atkinson finished sixth, followed by Amanda Stoner, while Mark Klotz and Ian McIntyre failed to finish.

Ray’s Towing & Recovery Super Stocks

After coming close on opening night with a pair of podium finishes, Randy Rusnell scored the victory in the first Super Stock feature on Saturday night. Brad Collison finished second, followed by Nick Troback, Justin Collison, and Chad Corcoran. Steve Cashmore finished sixth in his 2019 debut ahead of AJ Miller and Austin Penney. Cory McAllister would fail to finish in his Flamboro Speedway Super Stock debut.

Brad Collison kept his momentum rolling into the second feature, scoring the victory. it marks his second win in the four races run thus far this season. Randy Rusnell finished second, followed by Chad Corcoran, Steve Cashmore, and Nick Troback. Justin Collison finished sixth, followed by Austin Penney and AJ Miller. Cory McAllister would not take the green flag.

Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks

With a full field in attendance, the racing was crazy across the night for the Mini Stocks, as drivers tried to make passes three, sometimes four-wide at times. As a result, there was some contact throughout both features, ultimately ending the night early for some of the competitors. However, the cream still managed to rise to the top in both features.

Karl Sault opened the night in victory lane with his second feature win of the season ahead of Jake Watson, Erik Dalla Riva, Will Gibbons, and Tyler Lewis. Shawn Taylor finished sixth, followed by John Istead, Kyle Da Silva, Jonathan Ayrton, and Kaitlyn Wallace. Allie Ditner and Mike Hooper rounded out the top-12. Several drivers failed to finish including Nick Lasiuk, Matt Young, Dale Millard, Wayde Thorne, and Gillian Hils, while Dylan Sharpe failed to take the green flag.

Starting mid-pack for the second feature, Jake Watson made his way through traffic, surviving the chaos that ensued, en route to scoring his second victory of the 2019 campaign. Tyler Lewis finished second, followed by Jonathan Ayrton, Erik Dalla Riva, and Karl Sault. Will Gibbons finished sixth, followed by Kyle Da Silva, John Istead, Matt Young, and Dylan Sharpe. Kaitlyn Wallace finished 11th, followed by Shawn Taylor, Gillian Hils, and Mike Hooper. Nick Lasiuk, Wayde Thorne, Dale Millard, and Allie Ditner failed to finish.

McClurkin Properties Pure Stocks

The McClurkin Properties Pure Stocks continued their strong start to the 2019 campaign with a pair of features that saw good hard racing throughout the field, three-wide at times for every position.

After coming close the past two nights, Leo Labarbera got to experience what it was like to go to victory lane himself as he won the opening feature. Defending champion Dale Lucas finished second, followed by Mark Thorne, Courtney Scott, and Phil Givens. Bobby Mercer finished sixth, followed by Jared Bodner, Kyle Lucas, RJ Croteau, and Jimmy Hooper. Eric Stewart and Brian Gamble rounded out the top-12, while Reece Bourgeois and Chris Pendlebury failed to finish.

Starting deep in the field in the second feature, Leo Labarbera threaded his way through the heavy traffic en route to the lead, pacing the rest of the way for the Saturday night sweep. Mark Thorne scored his second runner-up of the season with Dale Lucas finishing third ahead of Courtney Scott and Bobby Mercer. Phil Givens finished sixth, followed by Eric Stewart, RJ Croteau, Kyle Lucas, and Jimmy Hooper. Brian Gamble and Reece Bourgeois rounded out the top-12, while Chris Pendlebury and Jared Bodner failed to finish.

Pro 4 Modifieds

Despite only three cars in attendance, the Pro 4 Modifieds put together a solid feature that saw Shannon Morris score the victory, marking his first win in a while. Dan Pettit and Mark Lucas rounded out the field, while Dave Hodgkinson failed to take the green after experiencing issues in practice.

This weekend at Flamboro Speedway marks the first round Grisdale Triple Crown. Rather than being decided on a single night as it has been the past couple years, the Grisdale Triple Crown will feature three 100-lap features across the season – May 25, August 10, and October 8 – to decide the champion.

Saturday night will also feature action from the Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks and McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks. The pit gate opens at 3 pm, followed by the front gate opening at 5pm with racing starting at 6:30 pm.
