PETERBOROUGH, ON (October 13, 2017)- Eric Yorke capped off his amazing season in style, scoring the victory in the Autumn Colours Classic Mini Stock feature on Sunday at Peterborough Speedway.
The 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division III Champion was quick from the start, coming up just a bumper shy of winning the first heat, followed by a runner-up in the second qualifier.
Starting up front for the feature, he’d make his way up to fourth by Lap 2. He’d continue to move forward, passing Warren Paxton for second on Lap 7, before the second caution of the event came out three laps later.
Eric Yorke got a good restart to take the lead, before the caution waved again. There would be more ensuing restarts, but each time, Yorke hit them flawlessly to keep the top spot as he led the rest of the way en route to victory.
Yorke also got to visit victory lane as a car owner this weekend, too, in Friday’s APC Auto Parts Mini Stock Youngguns Shootout.
Super Stock stand-out Coltin Everingham jumped behind the wheel of the No. 51 Nissan 240SX, battling back and forth with Miles Tyson for the lead through the first half, before pulling away in the closing stages to take the win.
“It was pretty cool,” Everingham said. “The car was definitely not built for me, but Eric Yorke has a very fast racecar. So I just had big shoes to fill, and I filled them, so it’s pretty cool.”
