@GBMotorplex BRAMPTON, ONTARIO (June 8, 2016) – In less than two days the gates will be opening at Grand Bend Motorplex for an Inaugural event known as the R&L Racing Burndown at the Bend presented by Auto Meter, which will be looking to bring big money bracket racing back to the Southern Ontario Market place for the first time in over five years.

Racers from all over Ontario, as well as Quebec, New York, Michigan and Ohio will be descending upon the facility to try and win a portion of the many thousands of dollars up for grabs over the course of the three day event. The feature classes at the event will be Super Pro, racing for two $5000 cash prizes, Modified Eliminator awarding $2000 both Saturday and Sunday, and Quick 16 which will see a Top Dragster/Top Sportsman combo (8 fastest Dragster and 8 fastest Doorslammers) gunning for the $3500 winner’s prize on Sunday after they are done qualifying on Saturday/Sunday morning. Bike and Sled racers will also have a shot at $1000 each day, while Jr Drag Racers will attempt to win the $500 winners share of their purses both days.

Kicking things off on Friday evening will be the Abruzzi Transmission and Converters Box/No Box combo race, which features a $1000 to win prize and pays back to the quarter finalists.

Support for the event comes from many well-known larger companies such as AutoMeter Precision Instruments, NAPA Auto Parts, and Abruzzi Racing Transmission and Converters as well as many local Ontario companies such as Rose Hill Auctions, J&S Collision, Williams Mobile Service, Fraser Asphalt Paving, Morrison/Everitt Millwrights, Photos by Stacee, Nerd Pickle Designs, Fast Eddie Racewear, ThePhotoGuys.ca.

“We are really excited for this event, and can’t wait to open the gates on Friday and get the weekend going!” stated DSE Sportsman Promotions Event Director Andrew Stirk. He would add “ We have been working on an event of this style and magnitude for many years, and the right opportunity came along this off season with Grand Bend Motorplex to finally be able to do it”.

Gates open Friday at 3 pm for racer parking with time trials starting at 6 pm and eliminations at 7:15. Saturday will see time trials start at 9:30 am, Quick 16 will hit the track for three qualifying runs as well. Sunday Time trials start at 9:30 again.
