@Riverside_NS •Antigonish, NS (June 9, 2016)- We’re ready to wave the green flag on our 2016 season this Saturday (June 11) with the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and the Highland Home Building Centres 50 for the NAPA Sportsman Series. We hope you plan to join us!
Both divisions will see heat races set the field for their features. It’s a new format for the pro stocks and proved interesting at the series season opener in Halifax on May 21, won by Maine hotshoe Cassius Clark who is expected to make his second PST start this season on Saturday in Rollie MacDonald’s No. 13. This is also the first event at Riverside for Antigonish’s Donald Chisholm as the defending Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour champion; we hope you’ll be here to help us congratulate him at his home track. New Glasgow’s George Koszkulics is the defending winner of the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 and you can bet he’ll be hungry to add another trophy to his collection. Add a stout group of veterans and an impressive group of rookies to the mix and it’s sure to be an exciting race!
Off-track, for the fifth year in a row, we are partnering with MADD Canada and the local RCMP to help promote student awareness at this event. Both groups will be on hand to demonstrate to students how important it is to make smart decisions at this pivotal time in their life. Free student admission tickets will be distributed to local schools and are also available at the Snow Queen Leisure Park (Lower South River) to any students who buy a ticket for a ride. We are very pleased to be part of such a great initiative.
Advance general admission and reserved tickets are now available for this event – more info and order form on our website. General admission tickets (no reserved) will be available at the track on race day. The box office opens at 3 p.m. Racing starts at 6 p.m. We have plenty of free vehicle and RV parking (unserviced and unreserved) available for this event.

IWK 250 Preparations Well Underway
In just a little more a month, we’ll be ready for the 10th anniversary of the IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body on July 15 & 16. Campsites are available in very limited supply at this point so if you are planning to bring your RV and don’t yet have your site reserved you better get to our website for a Camping Permit Application, sooner than later as drive-up overnight parking spots will not be available.
Advance tickets will be available for the IWK 250 starting next week, so stay tuned to the IWK 250 event page on our website for the order form and seating charts.
Space is still available for the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience packages at our track on July 14 and 15. You won’t want to miss this chance to feel the thrill of Riverside for yourself. Packages are still being offered for 50% off so don’t hesitate if you are planning to participate. Contact Rusty Wallace Racing Experience for booking and/or information.
Competitor Registration Forms will be available to teams in the coming days, the starting point for our entry list – which will be posted and updated on our website as entries are received.
We’re excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the IWK 250 – and hope you are, too!
Record-Setting $56,000 Donated to IWK Foundation
A huge thank-you to everyone involved in the 2015 edition of the IWK 250. As a result of the fundraising efforts with it and those of Steve Lewis Auto Body (sponsor of the IWK 250), a cheque for $56,000 was donated to the IWK Foundation during the annual IWK Telethon this past weekend.
Members of the Lewis family and staff, along with Riverside International Speedway owner Donald Chisholm and his family, were on hand to make the presentation of the biggest IWK 250 fundraising cheque to-date, which brings the cumulative donation total over the past nine years to more than $300,000. Well done everyone!
Last, But Not Least, Stay Tuned…
We’re dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on two big deals that we hope to announce in the next couple of weeks so you will want to stay tuned…it will be worth that wait!
