May 28, 2013- The early season frustrations continued last week for Jon Mills and the Hot Lick Racing team from Gananoque, Ontario.  The team has had more than their share of bad luck to start the season.  They hoped that would turn around this week as they returned to Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night, and they also hoped the weather would co-operate on Sunday with the postponed Cornwall Motor Speedway season opener on the team’s schedule.

In the eight lap preliminary qualifying heat, Mills started from the fifth position and worked his way forward.  He crossed the finish line with a strong third place run.  After making some adjustments to the car, Jon lined up from the ninth position.  With just a couple laps completed, Mills had to make a quick pit stop to change a flat tire, and returned to the track and restarted the race from the rear of the 26 car field.  Throughout the rest of the race, he worked his way forward and by lap 21 he was back inside the top 15.  Over the final few laps, he moved up two more positions and salvaged a 13th place finish.

“It is a little frustrating, but it could have been a lot worse”, explains Mills after the race.  “We have had some bad luck, but we will overcome it and continue to work hard, and hopefully we can get on a roll and post some top five and top ten finishes, and maybe even contend for a win”.

Jon Mills and Hot Lick Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support, and we look forward to working with you all throughout the season.  These sponsors include Unique Towing & Recovery, Gananoque Auto Service, Gananoque Chev Olds, Thousand Islands Mechanical, Chris Parks Heavy Truck Repair, Finish Line Web Design, 1000 Islands Painting, Laurin General Contractors, Tony Corcoran Speed and Performance, Turk’s Boat Polishing and Speedy Auto Service (Eagleson Road – Kanata).
