SASKATOON, SK – The rain stayed away just long enough to get round 5 in at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. On the schedule was the Cooper Tires thunder stock, SKL Trailers pro truck, Parts Source mini stock and featured the first of 4 visits from the Super Truck Racing Series.

The Super Trucks began the night with qualifying, the 41 machine of Len Zimmer and the 00 of Kevin McLean both timed in at an identical 15.335 seconds.

The Super Trucks also started the night of racing off with their first heat. Unfortunately it did not start well for the #7 machine of Dean Cunningham, he had trouble before the start of the race and required a push into the pits, but would return later in the evening. The 99 machine of Doug Fischer would take an early lead and remain unchallenged for the 15 lap heat taking the win.

The next heat of Super Trucks was a clean caution free race eventually being taken by the 48 machine of Dan Saunders. An impressive performance however from the 33 truck of Jamie Mclennon being driven by Trevor Emond who made his way from the back to second in 15 laps.

Thunder Stocks then took to the track for a clean fast caution free 15 laps being won by the 81 car being driven by Curtis Houben.

It was the Pro Tucks turn to strut their stuff with 13 trucks in the line-up. Again, a caution free 15 lap heat was won by the 18 machine driven by Bill Zubrecki. Honorable mention as well to the 89 of Jim Goodlad and 93 of Neil Schneider who appeared to have these trucks dialed in.

Entertaining as usual was the name of the game for the first heat of mini stock who race 3 and 4 wide at times during their 15 lap race. The 92 of Brennan Kirton was leading the race until a spin on the front stretch left him facing oncoming traffic, that would bring out a caution. No damage other than ego and track position. They would all continue with the winner of the first mini heat being the 42 machine of Landry Boisvert.

Super Trucks began heat two A with this very fast heat being taken by the 44 of Dean Braham.

Super Truck heat two B saw the 18 of Ron Larson crash into the front wall bringing out the caution. Ron was able to return to the pits under his own power and returned for the feature. Winning this heat was the 8 machine of Grant Mills.

Thunder stocks are up next with an early lead by the 66 of Brent Dupuis who would not relinquish and take the checkered after 15 laps.

Pro truck heat two shows a very strong performance from a very fast 27, Scott Lucas who would take the lead early and not look back leaving the rest of the pack fighting for second place.

Mini stock heat two had a caution on lap 8 when the 20 of Audra Cooper gets turned around on the back stretch and the 41 of Jamie Tatyrn gets turned around in corner four. Kevin Dyck in the 10 car would get to the checkered flag first.

The feature races began with the Cooper Tires thunder stock 30 lap event. This feature race includes two double seated cars so lucky winners can experience racing from the racers point of view. Two laps in, cars are three wide in a very exciting race with all the cars in a very tight pack vying for the checkered flag. The 81 machine driven by Curtis Houben would prevail being followed closely by the 66 of Brent Dupuis, 42 of Kelsey/Nicole Sheetka, 18 of Mike Rea and the 7 of Floyd Ransom, driven by his son Tristan brought it home in 5th.

SKL Trailers pro truck feature was the next order of business and this 40 lapper did not take long to heat up. The 27 of Scott Lucas and the 50 of Ben Pogoda tangle in corners one and two with the Pogoda machine getting turned around bringing out the caution. The track appeared to be a little greasy as a few trucks get turned around before the checker flag falls. Scott Lucas is able to hold on however followed closely by 14 Wade Wohlford, 18 Bill Zubrecki, from the back the 50 Ben Pogoda and 93 of Neil Schneider .

The Parts Source mini stock take to the track for their 50 lap feature race. The 95 of Clay Wagner shows the way on lap nine and would lead for a good majority of the race. Restarts after a couple of cautions would not change the order but finally on a third restart, the 7 machine of Darnell Schick and the 10 machine of Kevin Dyck are able to sneak by. Schick would be able to fend off Dyck and Wagner until 6 laps remaining when Schick would lose a left front tire after contact with lapped traffic.

Kevin Dyck cruises to the checkered followed by the 42 of Landry Boisvert, 95 of Clay Wagner, 1 of Scott Barrand and 41 of Jamie Tatyrn reporting to post race tech.

The Super Trucks began their 100 lap feature with their traditional five lap “warm up the tires” pace laps. The first 60 laps were caution free and fast! The 20 machine of Neil Fitzgerald would hold the lead for a large majority of these laps. Laps 73 to 75 take awhile to get through as double file restarts create a tight bunch of trucks vying for one spot and that seemed to spell trouble. When they were able to get some space to race, the 99 machine of Doug Fischer would take the lead and not look back. He powers his truck to victory followed by the 00 of Kevin McLean, 20 of Neil Fitzgerald, 48 of Dan Saunders and the 41 of Len Zimmer rounding out the top 5.
