FREDERICTON, NB – Reigning Atlantic Modified Tour champion Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) took home his first win of 2021 on Saturday evening at Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick. McCray secured the Bryn Enterprises 35, Round Three of 12 in the Atlantic Modified Tour point championship, with a pass of Braxton Stafford (Miramichi, NB) with five laps to go.

Stafford, who won the heat race, had paced the field for most of the 35-lap distance but a mechanical failure forced the No. 91 to the sidelines in the closing laps. McCray had sat in third until just past the halfway point behind Stafford and Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) before making the move on Hoyt in the second half of the 35-lap event.

Hoyt was able to shadow McCray by Stafford but came up short in his bid for a home track win, finishing second to the No. 58. Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB) was third, followed by Round One winner Travis Conroy (Miramichi, NB) and Sutherlands Excavating Limited 35 winner Doug Matchett (Miramichi, NB).

The Bryn Enterprises 35 was run from green to checkered without a caution period and took just nine minutes to complete. Stafford won the heat race over McCray and Hoyt. Eight drivers answered the call to the green flag on Saturday in the first stop to Speedway 660 for the 2021 Atlantic Modified Tour season. The win is McCray’s third in four championship point races at Speedway 660. Among those wins include the last two SpeedWeekend Sunday races at the 1/3-mile oval.
