HAGERSVILLE, ON (June 2, 2019)- Jason White continued the journey to his 100th NASCAR Pinty’s Series start at round two of the 2019 season this past weekend at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario.
White piloted his #21 Powder Ventures Excavating Dodge to his second consecutive top ten result and now sits seventh in the overall championship standings.
The weekend began with some challenges for the #21 Powder Ventures Excavating team. During Friday testing a problem with the rear end was found and required the team to return to the shop for some late night repairs. During Saturday’s practice an issue with the clutch surfaced. In spite of the setbacks White began the rain delayed 200-lap race on Sunday afternoon with a plan.
“I just wanted to be smart and take my time, I knew we had a fast car and there would be opportunities to move up” stated White.
True to his word White soon had the #21 Powder Ventures Dodge up inside the top-ten and following a scheduled pit stop for fuel his fortunes continued to improve as he moved into the top-five.
“In spite of the trouble early in the weekend, the car felt great and I just kept trying to look for opportunities to move forward,” said White.
Trouble returned however as the #21 Powder Ventures Dodge was tapped and sent into a spin by another competitor.
“I got pretty hot for a few minutes after that” explained White “but then I settled down and got back after it.
A late race caution set up a green, white checker finish and White took the opportunity to stop for fresh tires on the #21 Powder Ventures Dodge hoping to make a late charge.
“We’d gone the whole race without changing tires, we were super fast on those new tires, if we’d made the change earlier I think we might have had a legit chance to snag a win. Didn’t turn out that way but we still had an awesome racecar and wound up ninth at the finish”.
Back to back top ten results is an impressive start to the season for the Jason White and the #21 Powder Ventures Excavating Dodge team.
“What a job the CBRT guys have done, they’ve made fast racecars and it’s just so much fun to drive at Jukasa. This is one of the best facilities not just in Canada, but anywhere,” said the driver.
Jason White and the #21 Powder Ventures Excavating team return to action Saturday June 29that the Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee Jonction, Quebec.
