MISSISSAUGA, ON – The fourth season of the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Michelin will soon be upon us. Drivers will once again be vying for the top spot in the series, which will feature the newest iteration of the iconic 911 sports car, which had its unveiling at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto this past February.

“Many would agree that the 911 is the ultimate sports car,” said Alexander Pollich, President & CEO, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. “The arrival of the new generation race car to our series this year will be sure to continue building on that notion.”

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin is divided into two classes; Platinum Cup, featuring the more powerful 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, and Gold Cup which includes 2010 – 2013 Porsche GT3 Cup cars. Both classes run on Michelin Cup N1 tires.

The series consists of five weekends of racing with a total of 10 championship races, including the Honda Indy Toronto, July 19-20. The season starts May 17-18 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and includes stops at Calabogie Motorsports Park, near Ottawa, and the legendary Trois-Rivières street circuit in Quebec.

Developed for Porsche one-make cups worldwide, the 911 GT3 Cup has an engine with an output of 450 or 460 bhp, depending on the version, at a maximum engine speed of 8,500 rpm.

The Series is sanctioned by The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), which has been the premier sanctioning body for professional road racing in North America since its founding in 1969.
