OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 12, 2022) – Aaron Turkey will make his NASCAR debut next week when the NASCAR Pinty’s Series contests its historic Pinty’s 100 at Ohsweken Speedway.

The event marks the first on a dirt track for Canada’s most prestigious national stock car racing series. For Ohsweken driver Aaron Turkey, the event marks his introduction to racing cars with fenders. The 26-year-old Turkey is used to racing the ultra-fast winged sprint cars at his Uncle Glenn’s facility.

“These cars are a lot different than what I’m used to,” said Turkey after his first few laps of practice last week. “They’re nothing like I’m used to, but they are a lot of fun to drive. This race will be a blast.”

Turkey is racing a car prepared by series veteran Larry Jackson, and supported by Six Nations business Nitro 54 Variety. He is a welcome addition to the star-studded field that includes NASCAR and dirt track legend Ken Schrader, recent NASCAR Cup series winner Christopher Bell, and Ontario-born NASCAR Truck Series racer Stewart Friesen, along other dirt track specialists and NASCAR Canada stars.

“It’s huge for our speedway to have local talent competing with the NASCAR stars,” said track General Manager Clinton Geoffrey. “Aaron is homegrown talent. He started racing as a teenager, and he is a great role model for youth in the area wanting to get involved in the sport.”

Glenn Styres opened the race track in his front yard 25 years ago. Hosting a national NASCAR event wasn’t on the radar then, but now that it’s about to happen he wants it to be memorable.

“I’m proud to welcome the racing community to Ohsweken,” said Styres. “We’ve hosted major events over the last two decades, but this race will bring people to the track who have never visited. I’m glad they will get to see our local talent compete against some of the best drivers in the world.”
