Beamsville, ON (October 23, 2019) – Heading into his third full season of competition behind the wheel of his DIRTcar Sportsman, Trevor Wright hoped to continue his upward climb to prominence in the division.
The 17-year-old did just that as he solidified himself as a contender on a weekly basis and came close to capturing his first career win.
With two seasons of gaining valuable experience in the very competitive Sportsman class, Trevor knew that 2019 was the year to prove he could become a contender to win on a regular basis. That path of progress looked to be right on schedule at the start of the season as he rattled off multiple top five finishes at Merrittville Speedway. Things were going smoothly at the Thorold, Ontario track until mid-season gremlins plagued the #09 car. Uncontrollable issues provided constant challenges for a handful of weeks during the summer and broke the momentum the team had been enjoying.
Trevor and the team though enjoyed a very strong resurgence in the closing weeks of the season. After a controversial penalty at the start of the year sent him from sixth to 12th in the standings, he was able to stay focused and rally back to sixth when the final checkered flag flew. A big part of that comeback was thanks to Trevor’s strongest outing of the year on season championship night where he narrowly missed collecting his first win in the division.
After the dust settled, Trevor finished sixth in both the Merrittville Speedway and DIRTcar West Tour standings and ended the year 10th in the BEI Lightning Series tour. His year-end statistics were a sign that he had accomplished his goals of becoming a contender amongst a tough field of veteran racers. He was able to secure two second place finishes, four top five’s and nine top ten’s.
In 2020, Trevor and the No. 09 team will no doubt be competing weekly for race wins and a championship. At such a young age, his constant rise towards the top will garner much attention, one that marketing partners will gain much exposure from. Any companies looking to become a part of this growing driver and team for the upcoming season is encouraged visit www.trevorwrightracing.com to find out how to be a part of this exciting opportunity.
Trevor Wright Racing would like to thank all of its partners, crew members and fans for the support during a very successful 2019 season.
