CAYUGA, ON – Running June 30 through July 1, The Canadian Nitro Nationals return to Toronto Motorsports Park for the Canada Day weekend. The Nitro packed weekend features NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters, which are among the fastest accelerating vehicles on earth.
Canadians will be well represented in this professional class as Paton Racing gears up to put on a show, along with well-known Smax Smith racing team in two top Fuel Dragster shootouts. Cameron Ferré from the US, one of NHRA’s rising stars, will be back in the driver’s seat of the Paton Racing Top Fuel Dragster and this will be his second year at The Nitro Nationals.
In addition, the weekend will host 6 second, 200 mph Blown Alcohol Funny Cars, Nitro burning 2,000+hp A/A Fuel Altereds, the world’s FASTEST Freightliner Jet Truck, the Northern Warrior 300mph Jet Dragster, Wheel Standing Fire Truck and more! The Saturday night show finishes off with a massive fireworks display.
Toronto Motorsport parks is pleased to announce that the Outlaw 1/8th Mile Fast 16 Shootout will be making their race debut during the long weekend. The cars are set to be a great addition to the Nitro National line up.
Throughout the weekend visitors are welcome to get up close in the pits to see their favourite race cars and meet the drivers.
There will be a variety of vendors, a trackside bar, music, weekend camping and kids under 15 are free!
The team at Toronto Motorsports Park is pleased to have such an outstanding group of racers coming to the Nitro Nationals this year. The crowd will enjoy performances by top racers and some of the world’s fastest cars. If you want to see drag racing at its best, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
Top Fuel Dragsters: The quickest accelerating and the fastest cars in drag racing. Achieving 336mph in 3.62 seconds in a 1000ft. They run on Nitromethane fuel.
Alcohol Funny Cars: Supercharged (“blown”) engines, burning alcohol (methanol). These cars put on an amazing show for all of their fans.
A/A Fuel Altereds: Nitro burning, 2,000+hp, sitting on a very small frame and short wheelbase. This vehicle type has been called “Crazy” “Insane” and even “Suicidal”. At one point they were even banned from organized competitions for a period of 30 years
Jet Truck: “HELL Fire” the World’s FASTEST Freightliner Jet Truck, is powered by a massive General Electric J-79, the largest jet engine allowed in Drag Racing. Capable of speeds over 220mph. The truck is Canadian owned by Russ Lethbridge.
Jet Dragster: “The Northern Warrior” a 300 mph Jet Dragster, powered by an F-5 Fighter Jet engine. Driven by Neale Armstrong
