SAUBLE BEACH, ON- Two-time defending Ltd. Late Model champion Scott McTeer registered his second straight podium finish on June 14th, coming from deep in the field for a 3rd place result in Sauble’s 35-lap A-Main on June 14th.
“The way in which we fought with this car this afternoon, we’ll definitely take a top-3”, explained McTeer post-race. “We’ve been playing around with some different setup combinations this year. We made a sway bar adjustment that really upset the car and had us playing catch-up all day”
When asked about his team’s continuous adjustments, McTeer explained that it’s all in the name of staying ahead of his competition.
“You can’t stick with one setup your entire career”, said McTeer matter-of-factly. “When you’re the champion, the guys you’re racing against spend every moment working to beat you. They’re putting together new packages and setups in an effort to beat us. So, if they’re working overtime to get better than us, we have to work just as hard to stay ahead of them”
“Trial and error is really the only way to fine tune these cars”, continued McTeer, “I’ll take a night in which I have to fight the car, early in the season, if it’s going to put us one step closer to figuring out a combination that will help us win another championship”
The Tiverton, ON made sure to praise his Sauble counterparts, who have turned in a pair of ultra-competitive contests to open up the 2014 season.
“Everyone has upped their game this season, which is great for this speedway. We don’t mind having to work harder to beat quality competition. This division gets tougher every season. Jason [Parker] has always been a fantastic driver, but he’s stepped his program up this season”
“We’ll head back to the shop, go through our notes and find a way to make this car work better next Saturday”, offered McTeer. “This car has a lot in it, still. And I know we can get it back to victory lane”
Scott will be back at Sauble Speedway for another 35-lap Limited Late Model event this Saturday, June 21st. Event details can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca
Scott McTeer and M3 Motorsports are proud to represent Lake Huron Rod & Gun, www.SecretsOfTuscany.com, Expressway Trucks, McGee Motors Ltd. and Carey Optical through the 2014 season.
