@TNTSuperSeries • @LancasterSpdwy •NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (August 29, 2016) The first Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series championship was awarded in 2007. Now, nearly ten years later, the series just keeps growing. This weekend a new champion will be crowned as the series wraps up its best season yet.
Sam LoVetro Automotive presents championship weekend, kicking off Friday September 2 on Lancaster Dragway’s 1/8th mile and finishing up Saturday September 3 at Empire Dragway on the 1/4 mile. As in past seasons, the TNTSS points registration fee will be waived for BOTH Friday and Saturday’s races to allow people who want to try the best index class racing in the country, the chance to do so.
In the chase for the 2016 TNTSS title, Jim Thomson took over the points lead after a semi-final finish in last week’s TNTSS 5K. Dave Gunn is 69 points back in second at 499, Art Jones in third at 484, Harry Phelps at 476 in fourth and Mark Herbold rounds out the top five at 459 points. Back in tenth place there is a three-way tie and those guys are only 29 points out of the top five.
In addition to the two regular races this weekend, the annual REVS Full Throttle Powersports RACE OF CHAMPIONS will be held on Saturday night. The ROC is a FREE race for all past event winners in the TNTSS and pays $1200/win and $400/runnerup. There are currently 35 drivers eligible for the ROC.
Both Friday and Saturday’s races this weekend are qualifiers for the ROC so the field isn’t set yet. They will be laddered after the main event on Saturday and there will be no qualifying runs for the ROC.
Gates open at 3pm Friday at Lancaster with qualifying at 5pm and Saturday at Empire gates open at 9:30am with qualifying at 10:30am.
In addition to the TNTSS championship weekend, Lancaster is hosting the Buffalo Street Outlaws and Empire is having its annual 1/8 mile nationals. Visit www.lancasternationalspeedway.com and www.empiredragway.com for all the details.

About the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series (TNTSS):
Since it began in 2006, the TNT Super Series has grown into one of the strongest, most competitive sportsman drag racing series in North America and has catapulted many competitors to success on the national and divisional stages.
The TNTSS is a self-governing organization with input from its teams. Based on NHRA’s Super Street & IHRA’s Hot Rod classes, competitors run on a 10.90 index in the 1/4 mile (7.00 in the 1/8 mile) and race for a guaranteed purse that pays back more than 100% of the racer’s entry fees. The yearend points fund provides cash & prizes to the top eight finishers and the Series Champion receives a prize package worth over $4000.00.
The TNTSS is committed to providing the highest level of competition backed by solid media support to showcase its participants across North America. Events are contested at various drag racing facilities in southern Ontario and western New York and put on a spectacular show for the drag racing fan.
