LANCASTER, NEW YORK (September 25, 2013) The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series will finish the 2013 season this Friday September 27th at Elegant Builders Raceway Park (EBRP) in Lancaster, NY after yet another rainout two weeks ago.TNTSS officials are expecting a record car count for the final event of 2013.
It will be Race 13 in the series’ seventh year and will be presented by Jan-Cen Motorsports. And once again, there will be no points registration fee for new drivers wanting to try index racing on Lancaster’s 1/8th mile.
The chase for the 2013 TNTSS championship is extremely tight with the lead currently held by JJ Jablonski. “JJ increased his points lead last time out but not by as much as he’d like. He’s left the door open for Sam (LoVetro), Dave (Surmatchewski) and Gary (Kerl) going into the final race,” said Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director of Operations. “Knowing how competitive this series is, I wouldn’t count anybody out. Although if JJ qualifies well and goes three rounds, he will be the first driver to win two TNTSS championships.”
Jablonski currently has 747 points, 41 ahead of Sam Lovetro Jr at 706 with David Surmatchewski another 11 back at 695 in third. Gary Kerl at 675 is 72 back and Chris VanBaalen rounds out the top five at 640.
In the battle for the Performance Improvements Driver of the Year Award lubricated by Royal Purple, Harry Phelps still leads the field with a stout 0.030 average package through elimination round wins. Dave Surmatchewski is still in second but joining him in a tie is Gary Saska. Ted Barnes and Chris VanBaalen make up the rest of the top five.
Gates open at EBRP on Friday at 3:00pm with qualifying at 5:00pm. It’s also EBRP’s drag point finale and the Buffalo Superchargers will be there too. FREE ADMISSION IN THE GRANDSTANDS!
