MILLGROVE, Ontario (April 04, 2022)— The pieces are coming together for the upcoming season at Flamboro Speedway, as the track is proud to announce Tim Norris will be the race director for the 2022 campaign.

“I’ve known everybody at the track for a little while, so it is going to be fun,” he commented. “I am really looking forward to working with all of the Flamboro Speedway staff.”

Tim Norris is no stranger to motorsports, having been involved for over 30 years, beginning with motocross in 1988. He gained experience in motocross and supercross followed by snowmobiles, before transitioning to racecars.

“I basically got married, had a couple of kids, and decided cars were a safer way to go,” he commented. “I haven’t been to see many doctors since I started racing cars, where I was a regular since racing motocross and supercross.”

Since then, Tim Norris has spent a lot of time behind the wheel, including in the Pro Late Model ranks. Most people will recall seeing him in the Ontario Pro Challenge Series, with multiple trips to victory lane and championships under his belt.

Living not far from the track, Norris is also no stranger to Flamboro Speedway, having spent the past couple of years on the clean-up crew.

“I’m a manager at work, I run a crew of a little over 30 people, and I thought I could help out at the race track,” he commented. “Doug (Leonard) has done a fantastic job – there are some pretty big shoes to fill. But I have some knowledge. I can bring more of the racecar driver side of things to it, and something to offer them that way. I thought it’d be a great opportunity.

“We’ll be pretty fair with everybody. I’ve raced my Pro Challenge for 19 years with the same car, so I’ve seen a lot of stuff on-track with every different series.”

Doug Leonard, who has been on the Race Director the past couple of years, will still be involved in motorsports and available to lend advice if necessary.

The Norris announcement follows a pair of other shifts in the staff, which will see Gary Colling become the General Manager of Motorsports, Kevin Small take over announcing duties, and Kevin Hallett become the Tech Director.

The 2022 campaign is expected to be an exciting season full of action, featuring weekly racing beginning on Saturday, April 30, all the way until Saturday, October 22.

The track’s core divisions are back on the calendar for 2022 – Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, and the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, each ready to offer their own dish of entertainment. With over 100 different competitors across the divisions last year, fans were thrilled by door-to-door side-by-racing racing on a weekly basis, producing several different feature winners.

Of note, the ever-popular Grisdale Triple Crown will once again be a feature statement on the schedule. The three 100-lap features will be run on June 11, August 6, and October 2, with points given out by finishing position. The driver who has the most at the end of the final event will be crowned the 2022 Champion. The battle is expected to go right down to the wire as Shae Gemmell looks to make it three in a row.

There’s also the Pot of Gold 300, set to take place on Sunday, September 4 on Labour Day weekend. No matter the amount of cars in the field, the winner will be taking home $50,000 when the event is over. Second place will be paid $10,000, with $5,000 for third, $3,000 for fourth, and $2,000 for fifth.

The track has a history of putting on thrilling Enduros, as evident with the year-end Halloween Enduro each season. We’ve become used to everyone having fun and getting together to the end year off with excitement and entertainment, so why not do that a little earlier in the year? The event will be an Enduro, consisting of 300 laps broken into two parts. The first 250 laps will be ran, with the top 50 transferring to the final 50 laps to battle it out for the money.
