CAYUGA, ONTARIO (August 22, 2013) – The next event for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series will be held at the Grand Bend Motorplex August 30, 31, and September 1 during the track’s Teamsters Canada Local 879 “Thunder by the Beach” weekend.
This will be the seventh of eight races in 2013 for the PMRA, and the sixth and final event for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the PBSS, presented by Wiseco Performance Products.
Presently, with five wins to date this year, Rocky Di Lecce of Mississauga, Ontario leads the points in the PMRA, followed by Jack Grainy of Basom, New York, and former champ Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek, Ontario. Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario is fourth, and Paolo Giust from Osgoode, Ontario, is fifth.
Former Quick 32 Sportsman Series champion and Top Sportsman driver Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario leads that series, followed by the Ingersoll, Ontario-based Top Sportsman team of Wilson & Gray. Spencer Hyde, also in Top Sportsman, and also from Stratford, is next, with Top Dragster driver Melanie Simmons Salemi of Orillia, Ontario, and another Top Dragster driver, Bill White of Gadshill, Ontario, rounding out the top five.
And in the PBSS, Dan Cryderman in Pro Bike tops the list at present, followed by Pro Bikers Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario, Dave Vandereyken of Acton, Ontario, Marty Kuiack, also from Milton, and John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario.
Round One of qualifying for all three series will begin Friday, August 30 at 7:15 pm, and continues Saturday, August 31 at 4 and 7 pm. Eliminations will take place Sunday September 1 starting at 11:15 am. The rain date for the event is Monday September 2.
The Teamsters Canada Local 879 “Thunder by the Beach” weekend will also feature Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars, the return of the popular Jet Trains and the Grand Bend Motorsport Thunder Series, Extreme 32 Series and Junior Series .
