GRIMSBY, ON- Fourteen year-old Cayden Lapcevich will return to action at Flamboro Speedway this Saturday, October 18th. The 2014 Sunset Speedway Super Stock champion will look to clinch his second straight ‘Frost Fest’ title, when he battles some of the top names in the division for a $2,000-to-win prize.
The third-generation star is ready to rebound from a frustrating DNF at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic, and is confident a return to Flamboro will return his Fastline Motorsports team to their winning ways.
“We always seem to hook up well at Flamboro,” says Lapcevich. “The car responds there. When we won Frost Fest in 2013, it was the best this car has ever performed away from Sunset”
“Peterborough was frustrating, for sure,” continues Lapcevich. “But I’m grateful for the opportunity to have one more shot at competing before the off-season. I can’t thank my team enough. We took some damage at Peterborough last weekend, and if it wasn’t for their hours in the shop, there’s not a chance this car would be repaired in time for Frost Fest”
Lapcevich is likely to join a laundry list of competitors at the Mike Schmidt-promoted event, eager for one last chance at on-track action before the off-season sets in.
“Mike’s done an awesome job with Frost Fest,” says Lapcevich. “The payout is great, the atmosphere is awesome and it typically draws a really strong field. We’ve been fortunate enough to be able to run alongside some of the best in the division all season, so hopefully we can unload fast and give them a run for their money this weekend”
“Coming back to this event is definitely going to be special. I had never won a Super Stock feature before Frost Fest 2013. It feels like yesterday we were packing up and I was riding home with the trophy on my lap”
“We had a great car that day,” continues Lapcevich, “and we definitely intend on being just as fast this weekend.”
Cayden Lapcevich’s 2014 program is fueled by Tim Hortons, Troy Cove Marine, Springers Meats, EPIC Racewear by OnePromo.ca and Cathcart Trucking.
